Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas sustained "extensive second- and third-degree burns" on both legs below the knees and both feet and may miss next week's Republican National Convention as a result, his office said Sunday.
Spokesman Matt Hirsch said Abbott was with his family in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Thursday when he was scalded in an accident involving hot water. He declined to provide further details.

Get well soon, Governor.
Skin on paralyzed/denervated limbs is not normal skin and can suffer worse injury than normal skin In addition the lack of sensation can leave skin in contact with the source of the burn a lot longer than a normal person would tolerate I do not doubt a paraplegic could get a full thickness burn from something that a normal person would not
small detail, albeit not likely what happened I'm guessing
But was he wheelchair bound before this from paralysis?
Weird I saw him on TV Friday at a press conference making a statement on the Dallas shooting. He did not look like he was in any pain or had been burned.
He still has nerve receptors in his legs and can feel pain, according to the article...
....he has been in a wheelchair since an accident 30 years ago
Silver bandages greatly prevent infection, but studies found out silver prevents the cells in the bottom two layers of skin from doing their work well—they don’t lay the foundation quite right (silver makes them go a little crazy, but something does get done).
Yes He has been in a wheelchair for some time
And still, they mark the geyser locations I thought. With big warning signs, don’t go there, watch from a safe distance, or something like that.
Even a governor can’t make the earth not do what the earth does... just sayin’.
Yes.
Despite a horrific accident when he was in law school in which a tree fell on him
and left him paralyzed, Abbott is still able to feel pain in his lower extremities.
Yes he did speak on Friday in spite of the mishap. Local station NBC5 carried it live and, in light of this additional development, I am even more in awe of the man. Also very proud to have such a person as governor of my country (Texas.) If you haven’t seen or heard the talk he gave on Friday you should. Especially the video. I contend without reservation there is not a more capable and intelligent statesman to be found. He is a constitutional wizard, sharp as a hawk, and the best of the of what my country has to offer.
Yes, I’ve seen bacitracin ointment now with silver in the stores.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
He was injured BEFORE he held his Dallas press conference? My goodness.
Prayers up for my Gov Abbott.
I’ve met him and appreciate his sincerity. I wish him a very speedy recovery.
I believe most Americans saw that also...
am wondering if this is a media made up story...as he certainly spoke for quiet a long time and he didn’t look as if he was injured the day before...
very questionable, to me.
He is such a good man.
That makes sense. I didn’t know he was crippled.
I envy you your Governor; we have a metro-sexual pussy liberal POS who loves taxes and thinks global warming is killing us :-(
A few years ago, I read about a high tech rapid burn treatment in the UK Daily Mail...”Star Trek Skin Gun heals severe burns ‘within days’.”
“Once grafts took weeks, but now this skin gun does the work in under 2 hours and the burns heal within days.”
