Egypts foreign minister paid a rare visit to Israel on Sunday, saying that his country remains a steadfast and unwavering supporter of a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians but warning that conditions for achieving that are deteriorating.
Sameh Shoukrys trip was the first official visit to Israel since 2007 and reflected the strong but low-profile ties that have developed between the two countries in recent years.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Shoukrys visit was aimed at reviving the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

how about a two state solution like this: Egypt takes back Gaza, Jordan gets most of the West Bank, but Israel keeps the Jewish communities in J/S (Maale Adumim, Gush Yatif, etc., so called “settlements.”
Egypt and Jordan: Two states as part of the solution. “Palestine” or whatever is a bunch of BS; the name “Palestine” actually sounds like a laxative.
Thumbs up!
This meeting is very good news. They don’t need us Americans to be involved in every step. Better when we are not steering the discussion, so long as both parties have equal opportunity to be heard. There must be practical and economic reasons why Egypt seeks a better relationship with Israel. Some Egyptians display a hate of the jews on par with what comes from the Palestinians. The deep prejudice has even been displayed on Egyptian Network News. More than once.
Well, the 5 Arab nations, through sheer effort and miracles, against all odds defeated the 5 Arab nations.
When the Palestinians returned, it was to Israel.
Sorry Egypt, but the day will come when you have to take back your terrorist- invader -squatters from Israel (including gaza). There’s your two- state solution - Israel and Egypt (plus “Jordan” Lebanon and Syria and Arabia- u got plenty of states and far too much land already stolen from previous inhabitants)
Egypt wants to see Israel gone too; they started the ball rolling with the anti-Israel fighting to begin with. The disaster known as the “peace process” started with handing the Sinai back to Egypt.
Only some? It wasn’t all Muslim Brotherhood members who were chanting “To Israel we go, martyrs in the millions” in Tahrir Square back in 2011.
Anyone who comes out on the side of the “Palestinians” is being anti-Israel, sorry.
There has been a 2 state solution since 1948.
Israel including the West bank was about 25% of the UN partition, Jordan was about 75% of the partition
Since the Arabs have attacked en masse 6 times, last summer the most recent. The Arabs violated Oslo , never kept one Oslo condition or obligation, and have launched daily terrorist attacks inside Israel. Also, Abbas quit and ended the Oslo peace process to join Terrorist Hamas.
No, No, No, Jordan is the other state of the peace process and they got 75% of the land. The West bank never belonged to them, Jerusalem is the Jews Holy city.
Jerusalem will never be divided. We must never show the Terrorists that they gain anything as the result of terrorism.
Also, when the west band was in Jordan’s hands Israel was only 9 miles wide with Jordan on the high ground. That is not a defensible position for a country that has been attacked 6 times to allow.
while I support a peace with Egypt and would also support significant joint development and trading progress in a number of ways beneficial to Egypt,
giving Sinai to Egypt will prove to have been a most serious mistake ... as it nearly did just a couple years ago when Obama enabled the overthrow of the Egyptian government by his Muslim Brotherhood terrorist gangster mass-mudering IslamoNazi buddies. A Cairo government in their hands would guarantee another war on Israel (a war in which Egypt would have to be destroyed outright, alas)....
You must have meant to say giving the west bank to egypt.
Israel gave Egypt the Sinai to Egypt after the six day war.
Israel was given Gaza because Egypt wanted to get rid of that hell hole and insisted Israel take it.
i meant giving Sinai to Egypt, that will prove to be a giant mistake someday (like it so nearly did when Obama enabled his Muslim Brotherhood IslamONazis to take over Egypt.. had that gang of monsters managed to hang onto power in Cairo, they would have made another war against Israel...using Sinai as their staging area again....big big mistake for Jerusalem to have given Sinai up!....time is ticking....so far the new Egyptian govt is not attacking so that’s good...we will see....I see Egypt as still unstable and with a significant chance of going rotten again....we will see....Israel is not giving up any more land at any event, especially hear heartland of Judea and Samaria... that’s ridiculous and too damned dangerous ...as is its intent by the “two state solution” Nazi choir, anyway, but no chance of that ever happening now after all the Moslem terror attacks and murders and stabbings and bombing, not a chance... the solution if you call it that will be for the Moslems to return to their own lands...such as the 3/4 of “Palestine” now called Jordan, for starters)
Israel and Egypt agree on giving Sinai to the Palestinians as their own nation state. With the world community, they turn the new Palestine into the liberal utopia liberals want; all alternative energy, one race of people, no natural enemies. Put the UN there as good measure. Let them have an airport and defensible borders.
Within a year it will be a craphole.
see, if the Egyptians really wanted peace, they would have pursued significant trade and educational and development and cultural exchange and travel programs with Jerusalem... like peaceful nations do
they’ve had many many years to do it, and yet ... almost NOTHING..... plus, this is the first visit of this Egyptian diplomatic official or his equal....to Jerusalem..... in many years (as the article points out)....... that’s not peace, buddy. You or your pals should be regular visitors, commuters to Israel, and you should invite the Israeli trade and tourism and educational and other folks to visit you frequently too
just sayin..... there’s a reason why Egypt isn’t trusted...(and it is not only Egypt’s history of waging wars, including surprise wars like Yom Kippur on high holy prayer days in Jerusalem)
and so many of us really really sincerely do wish to both trust and befriend Egypt and the Egyptian people, too....
Sameh Shoukrys trip was the first official visit to Israel since 2007 and reflected the strong but low-profile ties that have developed between the two countries in recent years.First visit in nine years, which somehow reflects strong ties, y'know, other than the two or three years that the Islamofascist Morsi spent trying to turn Egypt into Iran -- with the blessing of Zero and Hitlery.
