An internal memo, obtained exclusively by LawNewz.com, could become a sticking point in a lawsuit filed by former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson against Fox Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. In her lawsuit, Carlsons most damning claim is that during a September 2015 meeting in Ailes office, he stated to her: I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago and then youd be good and better and Id be good and better. She then claims that following the meeting, in retaliation for her opposition to his advances, he denied her opportunities including severely curtailing her appearances as a guest commentator on prime time shows and blocking her from appearing as a substitute host on prime time or daytime panel shows. However, a memo, provided to us by Fox News, paints a different picture. Just days after the September 16, 2015 meeting, Ailes apparently told Bill Shine, the head of programming, to give it another chance. Ailes even suggested that he would be open to putting Carlson back on her time slot with primetime host Bill OReilly.
In the memo, Ailes also pushes for Carlson to appear on Fox & Friends for a promo segment and to promote her on Fox radio. The memo seems to have been prompted by a Thank You letter that Carlson apparently wrote following the September 16, 2015 office meeting.
Thanks for meeting with me last week. Im happy my show continues to do well and that you are open to help me like a show like Outnumbered with promotion and media PR to really see what I can do, she wrote. Here is her full letter below:
Gretchen Carlson Note to Roger Ailes 9/21/2015
Ailes defense team will likely use this memo as evidence that he didnt try to sabotage her career following their September meeting. It is not clear what evidence that Carlson has or if she maintains a recording of what Ailes said to her. However, Carlsons lawyer told Politico that they are very confident in their evidence.
Following the lawsuit, Ailes has vigorously denied Carlsons claims that he sexually harassed her saying they are offensive, wholly without merit. Carlson has stuck by her allegations, and her attorneys claim more women have come forward with similar claims.

If FOX is going to give Shep Smith an extra hour every day to fill in Gretchen’s time slot I say BRING GRETCHEN BACK!
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see much talent for some hour-long daily show with Gretchen. She might have been better used for special projects and producing an hour-long special every week on some segment of the news...just to tell a difficult story in a better fashion.
Good God, YES! Maybe get rid of the Drama Queen and put the other Drama Queen in his place for two hours!
She needs to sue Father Time the real culprit
Why did she wait so long to file this suit? My understanding this was done when she first came to FNC, Ailes come on to her...
We know why Kelly is where she is, she got her job at FNC because of Brett Hume, and her new contract was probably because she did ‘ailes a Monica’...so where does all this fit...something is not right here, pieces are missing...
I solved my Fox News problem a while ago.
I switched to One America News. Great news channel with out the drama queens AND their news readers are very pleasing to the eyes.
AMEN!!! I NEVER watch SHEP anymore....I would rather watch MSNBC!!
I hear you.
Speaking for myself, I think Gretchen is simply butting a stump that isn’t going to budge.
Odds are, also, that her timing could not be worse.
Given the race war about to break open across America, her butt-hurt looks remarkably trivial, especially in light of the evidence that has surfaced which certainly seems to favor Ailes.
Reading these memos, it’s just amazing to me how overtly self-promoting people can be. I’d be embarrassed. Maybe that’s a personal flaw.
Solution - send Shep to MSNBC then assign Harris Faulkner to the 2-4 pm spot.
Switch to FBC instead.
What channel is that on?
Is shep smith even human? Looks like some kind of alien from another planet to me.
Note: I don't capitalize the names of people I have no respect for hence the small letter in his name above. It's just my way of giving them the one finger salute.
I did too but then the site I was watching it for free on stopped airing it. If I ever find another free way to watch it I will. I refuse to pay for any aired program above and beyond what I pay for internet access.
Aren't they both the same thing except on different channels? /s
She probably “did ailes a Monica”
For someone who touts them self as a diehard Christian.....what a nasty thing to say. And you know this how???
I don’t and neither do you...people don’t have a sense of humor anymore, and your not as ‘Christian’ as I am so what’s YOUR point... If you had one, your reply would have made sense and it didn’t...try again, I’m sure you’ll find your footing somewhere in life!!!
The mascara budget will go up too.
