Iran is hoping to join an international project in southern France that hopes to build the first machine to generate significant amounts of energy using nuclear fusion, which is considered a clean, safe and virtually limitless form of nuclear power.
Laban Coblentz, spokesman for the ITER project, said a high-level Iranian delegation led by nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi and Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari visited St. Paul Lez Durance on June 30-July 1, where the fusion device is being built. Coblentz said fusion-generated nuclear power has no significant weapons applications.
Salehi was quoted by the Mehr news agency as telling reporters on Wednesday that during the visit we discussed possibilities of Irans joining to ITER, and the other members welcomed a prospective Iran membership.

The problem is they want that fusion reaction to occur about a quarter of mile high over Washington DC one warm Friday evening about 6:30pm.
And I hope to invent a defensive energy shield, but I have a better chance at doing it than Iran’s stupid wish.
"...no significant weapons applications".....I'll believe that when Coblentz recommends that all the citizens in Iran take a daily bath in the liquidified run off from the tokamak machines! See how that works out!
Is “fusion power” Arabic for “bomb”?
Maybe Farsi.
High power laser technology is what they’d get. Then they’d weaponize it.
