"..I asserted that no assault rifle, which I defined as a firearm capable of repetitive automatic fire with a single pull of the trigger, currently is being sold by licensed gun dealers in the USA.."They sell full auto if you go thru the NFA process with the BATFE. I dunno how those guys can afford to shoot'em and it's not very accurate. But hey, if it trips yer trigger, knock yerself out. I don't think there's been a crime committed with a legal full auto weapon obtained by one of us peons.

You can submit a Form 4 to transfer a pre-1986 full auto rifle. ATF will not process a Form 4 for anything manufactured 1986 or later. Form 4 also applies to purchase of existing SBR, SBS ans suppressor devices with an existing serial number. If manufacturing your own SBR or suppressor, you submit a Form 1 and wait for approval. In either case, you cough up $200 for the Form 1/Form 4 and wait for approval to take possession of your property. If the application is rejected, you get a refund of the $200. If accepted, hold on to your receipt for the $200. You just paid a tax that can be applied to your tax return for that year.
