Either WWIIp>I or the coming Civil War will dissuade them of any illusions of entitlement...and it will give them something to do! ;)I love my 20 year-old son dearly, but the summer is quickly passing by and all he does is eat our food and play video games, while we have to pay rent on the apartment he will live in during college next year (weird, I know, but they sign a one-year lease and we had to start paying rent after the tuition and room and board were done for this year).
I have always been very generous with him, and with my daughter. But honestly, when his age, I'd already waitressed and worked in a factory. And when my husband and I first got together, we made up pamphlets and put them in people's mailboxes, advertising that we were available to paint, clean houses, cut the grass, whatever.
If you try, you can find work. He doesn't.
However, I am very happy to report that our 17 year-old daughter has already found one job (within one week of graduating!) and has another place that wants to hire her, but the logistics are difficult.

Who allows him to live like this?

How come he does not know how to paint or clean?
