Abbott delivers Texas and the Mexican American vote when voters find out his wife is Mexican American.
That will be a delicate balancing act but I like Abbott and his selection as VP would pretty much disarm and defuse the dwindling CruzOlites.

I need to call Don-Don, as I call him. I know it was a mistake to go for the Pope nomination a couple years ago, but my Chevette crapped out and I was enamored with the Pope mobiles. A guy has to get around.
Anyway, I’m younger than Newt, have a beard that could pass for a Muzzie except it’s white. I look like those albino kids in Africa where they are killing them for their body parts. I figure I’m relevant, though perhaps obsolete.

He’s certainly better than any of Trump’s former competitors for the nomination. I wouldn’t trust any of them as far as I could throw one of them. And I think he knows his way around the Congress, which is a skill Trump will sorely need. Working wth them is like hearding cats!

Agreed. However, from a strategic management perspective, Newt would be most effective as Trump's Chief of Staff whose office is right next to the Oval Office. Newt will be Trump's "go to guy" mentoring and advising him on the legislative twists and turns in Washington.
Experience counts, and as a historian Newt is a gold mine of past wins and failures.
Trump knows he doesn't know what he doesn't know.
