The House will vote on a counter-terrorism package that will include a provision to prevent suspected terrorists from buying guns, Speaker Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis., told Republicans on a conference call Thursday, according to a source on the call.
The House, when it returns next week from its July 4 recess, will also vote on a mental health bill , sponsored by Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Tim Murphy, Ryan told his House colleagues.
Republicans believe terrorism and mental illness have been leading causes of most mass shootings.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory..
Yes, but lets flash back to what they think of Christians.
Just last year some government agencies were talking about them as the leading prospects for terrorism.
We’re thinking great, Islamists don’t get guns.
They’re thinking, aha, those stupid Christians.
>>>Republicans believe terrorism and mental illness have been leading causes of most mass shootings.<<<
Great, just redefine Islam as a Mental Illness and I’m on board.
While you’re at it, add Democrat and Liberal to the definition of Mental Illnesses.
Just wait till they define mental illness.
Some yahoo like they have working for the BLM or EPA will be sitting in his office writing regs on it.
Ayund what do we do about the ones on No Fly and Terror Watch who ALREADY own guns? How about NoFlys who check to see if they are on the list (buy a ticket, get turned down) then run out to buy a gun or three?
Maybe in one of those neighborhoods where it’s easier and cheaper to get a gun than a book?
The point here is to erode the 4th, 5th and 14th amendment protections on probable cause and due process. Once we see the UGE success when there are no terror attacks in the first week after passage, other bills will be passed with other lists being written with different consequences.
I plan on voting in November.
They should include background checks for bombs, bomb vests, pressure cookers and all other manner of murder implements terrorist might use.
Then kick out or intern all muslims in the US (their choice).
Never any talk of mandatory minimum sentencing for criminal acts with a gun like armed robbery. Gee, I wonder why that is?
More gun laws from Ryan? No surprise there.
Well, perhaps. But with a few changes. One, it’s only the ‘no fly list’ and not the ‘terrorist watch list’. Two, before any citizen is placed on either list, the government must ‘show cause’ and that citizen must be given the opportunity to appeal. Three, the bill must specifically allow race, religion, and national origin as factors for being placed on both lists. (see how many democrats will vote for that)
FWIW, the “no fly” list has less than 50K. The “terrorist watch list” is over 2.5 Million.
These fascists can’t even spell “due process”.
If someone is dangerous to be denied a Constitutional right, then they should have sufficient evidence to charge and convict that person.
I “suspect” that most congressmen are either being bribed or blackmailed. So, by their reasoning that should be sufficient to deny them their congressional seats.
Suspected Terrorists, that’s a pretty broad term. Legislation of fear to void the Constitution and if it passes, it will definitely not be good for patriotic Christian Americans.
Ryan caves ....AGAIN!
The stupid party has morphed into the dangerous party.
Caves or collaborates with the enemy?
I called my congressman’s office. Waste of time, I know. I told his rep that he needs to read the Constitution and learn what due process is and he needs to remind his fellow Republicans what it is.
Sadly, these bastards know what due process is. They don’t care, only in as much as they consider it a hindrance and want to get rid of it. Which they pretty much have done.
“House plans GOP cave-in on guns next week.”
“FWIW, the no fly list has less than 50K.”
Look for that to change. That’s the whole point of the law.
