"I was talking about the 74 percent of Americans who don't have a college degree, who are not benefiting from the globalization of the economy, and who ... see continuing globalization, combined with open borders, as not in their best interest," Santorum told me. And now, the current Republican nominee has taken a position on trade not far from Santorum's own. "Trump nailed it," Santorum said of Tuesday's speech.
"Trump is saying what I said in 2008 and 2016 and the reactions were the same from the elites," Huckabee said in an email exchange. "I was called a protectionist and a populist and attacked with millions of dollars of TV spots. Trump recognizes, as did several of us, that the political, financial, and media institutions have failed working class Americans. I'm glad Trump is getting traction for the truth."
Indeed there were. Buchanan saw Trump's trade speech as a "precise rejection" of a globalist economy philosophy embraced by Republican leaders over many years. "This is one of the basic tenets of Ryan Republicanism, Romney Republicanism, and Bush Republicanism," Buchanan said. "And Donald Trump is saying this has led us to disaster."
"What has changed is the results have come in that we predicted would happen in the 90s," Buchanan said. "I was saying in '91, '92, this is what will happen. You will lose your entire manufacturing base. It will be gone."

I could live with Santorum as VP
A wroking class hero is something to be.
Me to. I had forgotten about him to be honest.
Have considered him. He might be a good fit.
PA - purple state
Conservatives would be happy
He has good experience in congress
Their personalities would not clash
He is young enough to be in position to run later as president
The elites hate Santorum even more than they do Trump because Santorum is actually a practicing Christian.
I thought he was a practicing Roman Catholic?
It will guarantee the evangelist will show up.
2nd amendment check
Last poll on Hispanic had him at 30+%
Lots of black pastors , Cain , Carson and even FerretCON (who is against HELLary — she killed his friend Kadaffi). May bring enough of the black vote in
Some of Berns people. A few LGBT who saw the light after Orlando
Drip drip drip until the bucket is full
Lots of RCs are Christians. Separate discussion!
Same.
Good idea
Santorum as VP would be like Cruz-available for SCOTUS.
Agree.
Ahem....Roman Catholics ARE Christians.....
He’s just trolling.
Free Trade Republicans are the useful idiots Marx talked about.
“I could live with Santorum as VP”
I was thinking the same thing..he checks off most of the boxes. And Trump could announce that the VP will have a mandate to take apart and refocus our trade agreements. It would make for a great convention speech.

With all of these plusses and the potential to help swing PA, he may be at the top of my list.
Put Santorum as Trump’s VP and Pennsylvania is a guaranteed Hillary win. Sorry, the guy is a loser.
Hate to be the Baby Ruth in the Swimming Pool.
> the guy is a loser.
prove?
