"They say it was the roughest campaign ever in the history of Republican politics, but what you do is you go to sleep for a couple of days and you wake up and you honor [the pledge]," Donald Trump said. (AP Photo) Trump unloads on former GOP opponents who refuse to back him

By GABBY MORRONGIELLO (@GABRIELLAHOPE_) • 6/29/16 5:26 PM SHARE TWEET SMSMore Donald Trump railed against several of his Republican primary opponents on Wednesday night for declining to endorse him in the general election, going so far as to suggest "they should never be allowed to run for public office again."

"I have guys out there and if you really think about it, they're really sore losers," Trump told supporters during a campaign rally in Bangor, Maine.

Trump was referring to at least seven GOP presidential hopefuls who signed a loyalty pledge to support their party's presidential nominee and have since declined to do so. Such candidates include former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, businesswoman Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

"It was a rough campaign," he conceded. "They say it was the roughest campaign ever in the history of Republican politics, but what you do is you go to sleep for a couple of days and you wake up and you honor [the pledge]."

The presumptive Republican nominee continued, claiming that he considered the pledge to be "legally binding" and assuring his supporters that he would have honored it had Kasich, Cruz or any other GOP candidate clinched the nomination instead.

"There are people I don't like or particularly respect on that stage, but I would have honored it," Trump said. "I wouldn't have gone crazy, yelling it from the loudest building."

Trump himself routinely changed his position on the pledge during the primary, threatening more than once to leave the Republican party and launch an indepedent bid.

"But you know what, we have people who haven't honored the pledge and that's a terrible thing," he told the crowd. "They signed a pledge saying they will abide, they will back the candidate of the party and now they sit back and ... they broke their word."

"In my opinion, they should never be allowed to run for public office again because what they did is disgraceful," he added.

Some of the billionaire's former opponents have said that in addition to declining to endorse Trump, they will not attend next month's GOP convention.

The question is who is the scam artist? It’s one thing for Cruz to support these Globalist boondoggles; it’s something else completely for him to deny it ever happened. Does he not realize his record is all over the Net? Yet he lies with a straight face and seemingly without compunction.

It’s enough to give an objective person pause...

I’m saying Cruz’ opposition to amnesty rings hollow unless he opposed Cantor. Cantor was the godfather of the Dream Act. The Dream Act would have destroyed the USA.

So once again, can you provide a single quote from Cruz calling for Cantor’s defeat?

I’ll wait.

WHO’S THE MONKEY NOW?!

Not sure which one of you guys. Probably still you though because at least FW tried to come up with something. TPP wasn't finalized until October of 2015 and made public November of 2015.

In January of 2014, nearly 2 years earlier, it was little more than a name.

That is why Cruz said "I hope the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) produce agreements that...."

What kind of idiot would come out railing against a trade agreement that hadn't been written?

Probably a monkey.

Delusional, delusional~

The lengths you’ll go to in order to defend your god Teddykins. Though I suspect that it’s more pride talking since you really can’t stand me and FW right now.

Sorry, honey. The moniker Lyin’ Ted is well deserved, and all the crying on the Internet won’t change it.

I’m willing to give him a chance to see if he does the right thing in the future, but he’s not the conservative Messiah that he and his followers seem to think he is.

Wow.

You pull up objective proof that Ted supported TPP before he opposed it, and the response is to try to wildly spin out of it.

This is why I call it a cult.

Excuse me, but Cruz didn’t say anything about needing to read the agreement. Nor did he say he hoped TPP would be worth supporting; he said he hoped it produced prosperity. He was all in.

Also, get your facts straight. Cruz knew what was in it:

‘However, according to Matthew McAlvanah, spokesperson for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the TPP negotiation text has been available for lawmakers to read since 2012.’

Cruz’ supporters are as slippery as he is.

Birds of a feather...

Well you’ve just insulted about 60% of Texans. Way to go, dumb @$$.

I don’t believe Texans are stupid or dishonorable. In the primary only 43% supported Cruz - that was before they learned what he is like.

I had no idea Cruz got sixty percent of the TX vote during the primary. Do you have a link, so that I can review his impressive showing?

Here’s a link for you, but I’m not sure you’re going to like it:

“There’s Cruz supporters here who are real assets to the comunity who will undoubtedly get on board after Cruz endorses Trump at the convention.”

There it is, in living color for all the cruzettes. Once your leader gives you the go sign, you can come out from behind the desk and support the nominee. But don’t you even THINK about doing it before your leader tells you to!

Just who are the cult followers around here???

This pathetic arguing back and forth is part and parcel the ENTIRE cruz package. Bury ‘em in words like any trained lawyer and hope people get tied up in your bs.

Sickening. Teddy, oh Teddy, honor your damn pledge!

It was a University of Texas poll. Sorry it was all bad news; maybe the next poll will have a silver lining.

I still think you get way too excited about these things

It's amazing to me how excited people get in defending Cruz. Everything I've written about Cruz, back when I was getting threads with 1000 hate messages against me for exposing his pathological lying and sordid ties, has been proven true and vindicated. I'm the mainstream before it becomes mainstream.

That is a very good point—i.e.: that there are Cruz supporters that can’t/won’t support Trump unless Cruz gives them the green light.

Me, I don’t foresee Cruz endorsing Trump at the convention. He’s had ample oopportunities to signal his possible future support and he’s pointedly refused. Also, he said he didn’t want a speaking slot. But we’ll know more in time.

OK. Now I am convinced that English is not your first language.

"I hope<\b> the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) produce agreements<\b> that reduce government-created barriers to trade, enabling increased prosperity for all involved. " He hopes that the partnerships produce agreements that lead to prosperity.

One of the pages I looked at, which had Cruz’ letter printed in its totality, was a Stop TPP page. The person who posted the letter is the one who had written to Cruz, begging him not to support TPP. Instead, he got a letter back from Cruz saying he hoped TPP ushered in an age of prosperity.

If Cruz didn’t support TPP, he could have said, ‘I’m withholding my support until I’ve studied the agreement further.’ But he didn’t say anything like that. He merely hoped TPP revitalized the economy.

You’re the one struggling with the language. Wake up and smell the Globalism.

Oh, and the Stop TPP page listed Cruz as a supporter (of TPP). Pretty soon you’ll be classifying everyone who disagrees with Ted as a foreigner.

The one(s) you patiently take the time to enlighten, are the most pitiful of all. They refuse to see reality and honestly, I commend you for taking the time to TRY to show them the way. Me, I wouldn’t waste a moment, they argue like a lib, think like a child and follow that dreadful lyin Ted in every way the hurts this nation most.

I have no illusion that ted will do what is right and decent. It’s not who he is and that was revealed for all to witness during the primary. He is a gutless lil lyin fraud.
