Democrat Hillary Clinton has 42 percent to Republican Donald Trump's 40 percent - too close to call - as American voters say neither candidate would be a good president and that the campaign has increased hatred and prejudice in the nation, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released today.
This compares to results of a June 1 national poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pe-ack) University, showing Clinton edging Trump 45 - 41 percent.
When third party candidates are added to today's survey, Clinton gets 39 percent with Trump at 37 percent. Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson gets 8 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein gets 4 percent.
"The 2016 election has increased the level of hatred and prejudice in the U.S.," 61 percent of American voters say. Another 34 percent say it has had no impact. Of that 61 percent, 67 percent blame the Trump campaign and 16 percent blame the Clinton campaign.
"It would be difficult to imagine a less flattering from-the-gut reaction to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
"This is where we are. Voters find themselves in the middle of a mean-spirited, scorched earth campaign between two candidates they don't like. And they don't think either candidate would be a good president."
American voters are deeply divided along gender, racial, age and party lines. Women back Clinton 50 - 33 percent while men back Trump 47 - 34 percent.
White voters back Trump 47 - 34 percent. Black voters back Clinton 91 - 1 percent and Hispanic voters back her 50 - 33 percent. Voters 18 to 34 years old go Democratic 48 - 23 percent, while voters over 65 years old go Republican 51 - 35 percent.
Democrats go to Clinton 89 - 3 percent, as Republicans go to Trump 84 - 6 percent. Independent voters are divided with 36 percent for Trump and 34 percent for Clinton.
Good points BG, Yes Trump on the Offense, I can see that and yes the little people are speaking. The Fr-er who suggested “McExit” ( McCain vs Ward in AZ ) is brilliant. We want to exit from him and the likes of him that make insane rules.
Well, what happened to Hitlery’s 11 point lead in the polls from last week, when all the TV talking heads said it was over for Trump...
Agree on both points. If Trump were to get 33% of the Hispanic vote, it would be a gain compared to 2012 when Romney got 27%. McCain got 31% in 2008.
This Quinnipiac poll sampled registered voters, btw.
Trump is likely up about 10-15%. His internal polls will never be divulged as he needs massive turnout to defeat dead people, triple voting, S0ros and his Diebold cheating, and of course, illegals.
I was at an urban gas station and a paid leftie was there “registering people to vote”...I guarantee it was to get an address, and either:
* no ID but tell the poll worker on day of election they are this person and vote for them, OR
* send a car paid by S0ros to pick them up and take them to the poll
Anyone else see such voting registrations going on by the Left?
That’s the real racism in America.
There is no way she can get out of debating. Debates have been a part of the political process since 1960. It’s not going to change because of Hillary.
Health problems won’t get her out of the debates but they might get her out of the race.
The moderators will be James Carville, Paul Begala, and Lanny Davis.
Count me in as a Nervous Nellie! :)
And yes this poll does make me feel a little bit better, today at least!
I don’t buy that-—not consistent with any other poll-—but look at Hispanic: 33%!!!
Cankles cannot win with that number.
Biggest challenge for Trump is “nukes” and being presidential. He can fix both of these with a series of serious speeches.
Bleh, and more recently, Mcain and Romney were both losing to Obama up until.. including, and through the election.
This will be a turn out election. The dims have a real problem. Hillary doesn’t excite anybody who isn’t dead to get out there and stand in long lines to vote.
And there will be long lines this year.
Trump otoh turns them out in droves. And Trump voters will happily crawl over cut glass either because they love Trump, hate Hillary or both.
The good guys have all the mo this year.
And we’re seeing some reverse Bradley effect going on as well.
I read an interesting article one that said all elections are determined by GOP turnout.
They showed statistics that reliably proived that Demo turnout is almost a constant, for every election.
So it is GOP turnout that decieds the outcome. That is why they put so much effort into voter fraud and suppressing GOP vote.
If the GOP turns up, they win. Trump is drawing more turnout than I have ever seen in my nearly 60 years.
And the stupid party is not even TRYING to ride those coattails into a huge (R) majority in Congresss.
Likely voters gives you a better picture.
I find it hard to believe that Trump is only barely ahead of Clinton with independent voters.
Hillary always gets a +20 point handicap in the polls
They were not real candidates they never criticized the negro, they were flakes, you should know that.
I think this is good news too. When Trump goes on the offensive and gets serious again, he can bring many more voters into his support.
Fox News to release new polls tonight on Special Report!!!
You know, that person might be on to something. When is the last time Hitliary has held a presser?
“Hispanics at 33 for Trump,”
When the Rino’s see his numbers with Hispanics they will jump on board. One of the biggest reasons the weak kneed cowards have been hammering Trump, is because they were afraid of losing Hispanic voters and their re-election chances.
Watch them have a “Reconsider” moment and say they are glad Trump listened to them about his tone.
