A meeting with the Dalai Lama and a few pictures on social media might have negatively affected Lady Gaga's stardom in China.
The pop star met with the leader of the Buddhist faith on Sunday while he was speaking in Indiana.
Before the meeting, Gaga was arguably one of the most popular Western musicians in mainland China. But after she shared photos of herself and the Dalai Lama on Instagram, her account was flooded with negative comments.
One user posted: "The way the Chinese feel is just like you were shaking hands with (Osama) bin Laden." Another wrote: "This is proof that she can love and respect a Chinese terrorist. She fundamentally looks down on Chinese fans, and even all Chinese people."
A day after the meeting, the Communist Party banned all of Lady Gaga's music in mainland China. The singer herself has also been barred from the country.
In 1959, the Dalai Lama fled the Chinese region of Tibet after a failed uprising against the Communist party. The government still considers him a separatist who is aiming to break Tibet away from China.
Lady Gaga joins other Western celebrities like Richard Gere, Bon Jovi, Maroon 5 and Selena Gomez, who have all had concerts, appearances or their work banned because of interactions with the Dalai Lama.

This is a stark reminder of how sinister and oppressive Chicom is. It even tries to dictate whom foreign celebrities should meet as a private citizen, even when those celebrities frequently show some outrageous behavior which are objectionable. He is not condoning those behaviors or ideas. He just meets anybody who wants to hear from him and share his views. It is true that meeting him is viewed as a cool thing among liberal circles. That should not tarnish him as another liberal who we should not bother with. Dalai Lama is a avowed pacifist pursuing Buddhist ideals, threat to no one except those who like to brutally oppress people. His appeal transcends political ideologies, while people may quibble with some details he has said in the past. Usually, his faults are that he tends to be naive on certain issues. China is a country which basically equates such a decent human being to Hitler.

China is a country which basically equates such a decent human being to Hitler. As opposed to here where we equate Hussein to a decent human being.

The Dali Lama and Israel’s PM Netanyahu seem to have a shared experience WRT the Obama White House Exit.

And she still couldn’t help herself by showing off her cleavage through a sheer, chiffon blouse. Surprised she didn’t wear her ‘penis pumps’ as opposed to the ‘hooker stilletos’.

Unlike Richard Gere, she may not be interested in following his guidance. I suspect she is just doing a “cool thing.”

if you vocally advocate Dalai Lama and attract some public attention, you are an enemy of state to Chicom. Even if you are an ordinary citizen, you may well be banned. It is wise that you do not mention his name while in China if you want to stay out of trouble.

Dalai Lama is not the leader of the Buddhist faith.
You are right about the Chinese government.
The supposed internet reaction is fake fifty cent army.

You are right. He is a leader of Tibetan Buddhism, which is one of Buddhist sect, albeit with a large following.

Kind of surprised she did not walk in on the Dalai Lama bottomless, in just her pantyhose, like she’s done in public beforehand, lol.

She is very talented. She did a lot of crazy stuff to make big money, big deal.
She’s on my good list after her performance of the Star Spangled Banner.
She met with the Dalai Lama and Commies (including Obama) didn’t like it?
Good!

I know, right? Gawd how I wish we could go back to the days of Grace Kelly, ect. We have a First “Lady” (debatable) that does ‘The Dougie’ and constantly grabs ‘her’ crotch. Can women be women and men be men, again? Not ‘androgynous’?

Agreed. I find that sort of behaviour ultimately desensitizing, let alone inappropriate.
