I listened to Glenn Beck describe the dirty tricks Lincoln used to get elected, and how no one thought he would do what he did.
Consider the utter disaster of the Lincoln presidency. A statesman would have worked to find a peaceful solution. The South knew that slavery was not sustainable. A way could have been found.
The Silly Thing was, Beck thought Lincoln was so beyong reproach, that everything was justified by what he did in the war!
