I once knew an elderly lady from Latvia. Because her husband had been a Russian general stationed there, she had a heck of a time emigrating after the war. (not sure that was the full story). To hear her tell it, the rise of nationalism in Germany after WW1 was the anger of ordinary Germans whose sons came back from war, with their lives and their futures ruined. But the sons of the bankers? They never fought the war. They profited off the war, and the rebuilding that followed. Folks supported Hitler because of that anguish, and that rage against bankers morphed into rage against Jews.
It's those dang bankers and industrial profiteers at it again. Been that way since the Crusades, when the arms makers sold their wares to both sides.
