Maybe those who’ve been looking for an excuse to leave the Church will. I know I never will leave the Church because Christ is Eternal & the pope is just a man.

One bad apple does not affect my faith.
There have been bad Popes before that the Catholic Church survived.

"Are some Catholics leaving the Church of Rome over these peculiar papal statements?" Only the ones who don't understand that papal infallibility applies ONLY to matters of faith (i.e. doctrine), and not political opinions, of which this is one.

Are some Catholics leaving the Church of Rome over these peculiar papal statements? I didn't leave the US when Clinton and Obama were elected. So, I'm not leaving the Catholic Church just because there's an idiot temporarily in charge.

He is the Pope. What his personal opinions are makes no difference to me as long as he doesn’t try to change doctrine.
I do wish though that he would STFU. He really has no clue about real life.
