Gerald Walpin, the inspector general who was at the center of controversy in 2009 when he was fired by the White House amid an investigation of an Obama friend, died today. He was 84.
Walpin's son-in-law, Allan Tananbaum, said Walpin was struck by a car while crossing a street in Manhattan.
Walpin was fired in June 2009 for his investigation of the misuse of money in AmeriCorps, the service organization that was part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, where Walpin served as inspector general. The investigation focused on Kevin Johnson, the former NBA star who became mayor of Sacramento, Calif., and was a prominent Obama supporter.

He was a friend of Andrew C. McCarthy from what McCarthy said on twitter. I smell fear with the thoughts of Trump taking office and being informed of things he would investigate once Obama is out of power.
I would imagine that Trump’s Secret Service detail is letting him in on lots of neat stuff...about Hillary AND Obama.
I met him a couple years ago at the Federalist Society National Lawyers Convention. Great lunch company.
VISTA was merged into the 1993 creature Americorps.
Americorps was a hatched under the auspices of Speaker Foley, Majority
Leader Mitchell aaaaaaannnndd that guy from Arkansas. You know,
the guy whose wife is in the news.
BTW, this could have just been an accident. Interesting that the Chevy
had a grill guard.
Move along folks, nothing to see here.
He was a fine man with a lot of character from all I could see in his interview with Beck. I had always hoped he would see justice after what Obama did to him.
Let me get this straight, he was an inspector general, and he was FIRED in June 2009 for his investigation of the misuse of money in AmeriCorps?
Exactly HOW do the Democrats get away with this kind of blatant corruption?
He didn’t take the kids along to see their great grandmother
in her last days. Curious.
Seems to have just been swept away ...
I specifically remember when he announced her fall. Said it was serious and he’d be jetting off to Hawaii. I thought, good, don’t have to hear his lying voice for a few days.
And then he kept right on campaigning - even though he had a plane that would get him there pronto. Took a few days before he went.
I thought someone mentioned he had access to her apartment. Can’t remember where I saw that, though. If he did, I’m sure a certain paper document will never be seen again. Whatever tale it told.
I never forgot this story and I remember how Beck brought Walpin on his show and gave him a test to see if he was senile and confused. After the questions Beck asked Walpin, Beck looked into the camera and said he did not seem confused to him.

It’s good to be a Rat.
What I read a few minutes ago said they cut a deal.
Chi-cide!!!
Congress has let this evil entity run lose...unchallenged. But they’re fighting for you tho.
Classic method of assassination to even the score.

Gerald Walpin, a former inspector general for the federal AmeriCorps program who was fired by President Barack Obama over his handling of an investigation into a California mayor and Obama supporter, has died. He was 84.
Walpin was killed Friday morning after being struck by a sport utility vehicle in New York...”
Walpin, a New York attorney, was fired in 2009 as the inspector general who investigates AmeriCorps and other national service programs following an investigation into Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and his nonprofit group, which received hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grants from the corporation that runs AmeriCorps.
Walpin’s probe found Johnson used AmeriCorps grants to pay volunteers to engage in school-board political activities and run personal errands for Johnson. Johnson, a former all-star point guard who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns, had supported Obama during his first campaign.
Walpin referred the matter to the local U.S. attorney’s office, which said Walpin’s conclusions seemed overstated and didn’t accurately reflect all the information gathered in the investigation. The U.S. attorney’s office later reached a settlement in the case.
Obama said he removed Walpin from his position after he lost confidence in him.

Thanks for the ping/post, LucyT. OUTSTANDING posts/information BUMP!
How convenient.
Thanks for the background!
The Honolulu Star or whatever the newspaper in Hawaii did a timeline on when he flew over a few days before she supposedly died. It showed he spent all of about a half hour (don't remember the exact number of minutes but it's on FR somewhere) visiting in her apartment and then headed to the golf course. You know, just long enough to rummage through the closet his book claimed the BC was in. Doesn't everyone fly a few thousand miles to see their grandma for the last time and only spend moments with her because you have to make your tee time?
Then she coincidentally died. Some speculate she died 3 days earlier than her death certificate says. Either way, she was cremated and dumped into the ocean so no one will ever find out the truth. Notice Moo and the girls stayed here so they wouldn't be witnesses.
