Why didn’t it work out well? Texas is still a Republic and can leave the Union with no legal repurcussions at all. Now that is not to say that judges and officials can’t make a mess of things. For that matter, I would like to see the entire 50 States break up the federal government, and if they wish to reinstitute a new compact with stronger Constitutional protections, term limits and the death penalty for bribing, and taking bribes for a public servant.

Not true. When Texas became a state it ceased being an independent republic. It is now subject to the same constitutional restraints as every other state.

Lots of ‘legal ramifications’ to be dealt with.

Some open questions:
What happens to US military installations in TX? Who pays for them? Do they stay and belong to TX - with or without the ‘contents’? Does TX create its own military, or could it/should it ‘pay for protection’ and let the rest of the US provide the military?
What happens to Texas taxpayers who paid into social security and medicare? Do they keep paying in and then can draw out? Do they lose the right to to draw out?
What about retired federal government workers or retired military in TX - do they continue drawing their pensions? Do they now escape paying US federal taxes on the pensions?
The US debt is about $20 Trillion. What portion of that debt belongs to TX and its citizens?

Look...seceding from the US SOUNDS nice...but there are LOTS more questions....in search of answers.

For the BREXIT...there is a 2 year transition period to address some other their possible problems. How many years would it take to provide a proper ‘separation and divorce’??

So, I would love to see Welfare stopped but what about senior citizens that depend on SS benefits. Regardless of how we feel about SS, there are a lot of good people that worked hard and contributed all their lives and depend on the Federal check. Would that stop or does Texas have a plan for that.

I’m all for succession but would hate to see good people (not moochers and deadbeats) starve.
