The US has been warned about its high poverty rate in the International Monetary Fund's annual assessment of the economy.

The fund said about one in seven people were living in poverty and that it needed to be tackled urgently.

It recommended raising the minimum wage and offering paid maternity leave to women to encourage them to work.

The report also cut the country's growth forecast for 2016 to 2.2% from a previous prediction of 2.4%.

Slower global growth and weaker consumer spending were blamed.

Shut the heck up, IMF.

I am warning you that socialists without biblical morals will go to Hell without God.

If we executed the poor, the IMF would be happy?

How about we just keep the money we send to the IMF and use it at home? A lot less poverty automatically.

Living in poverty at a level that is the envy of most of the countries of the world. What about the woman in New Orleans who was interviewed on TV? She had six kids, all with different fathers, none present, had a 3BR apartment, a car, a plasma TV, and was 57 years old and worked a total of one year in all that time. Poverty my ass.

We still have poverty because the politicians spend money to make them dependent on them so they get their votes. Free cell phones for deadbeats. Explain that, other than buying votes. Money is not spent to end welfare, but to extend it. SInce Obozo took office, transfer payments are up 31%. My SS check: 0.1%. Term limits is sounding better and better.

A great many of those who live in poverty don’t have jobs and pay for those working has bees suppressed by illegal alien labor and runaway H1B visas.

Well, see, the elitist morons in Europe want our welfare dollars to go to THEIR poor, not ours... to them, our poor are expendable cannon fodder.

When I was in school I would be considered in poverty. Was working for minimum wage but over time (4 yrs) was making $7.25. Yearly income was about $6,900 a year. I filled out a 1040 form.

The real picture though included two roomates, some support from my folks and had finished grad school.

In my case, poverty was temporary. Yet these pinheads expect I would perpetually be in poverty making no allowance for upward mobility.

wait...the IMF is absolutely right and to address the situation, we are going to KEEP funds scheduled to go to the IMF, to address our own poverty needs.

Of course, you will now have to go to the other member countries to make up the IMF shortfall.

Thank you for pointing this out to us.

“The report also cut the country’s growth forecast for 2016 to 2.2% from a previous prediction of 2.4%.”

Hmmm...was it “unexpected”??

The system is probably rigged to tank the economy immediately after the Trump election. That, I expect. Following in the fine tradition of Obama, Trump can blame Obama over it for a long time. At least 7 years, I would think.

Real simple response to this... Oh you didn’t get your latest check from US? We’re sorry we’ll be giving it to our citizens from now on.

Five trillion? Try Twenty trillion; basically every dollar the US has in debt has been spent on one or another social(ist) program. Thanks a lot LB Johnson.
