Slavery died out everywhere it existed in the Western Hemisphere of the reasons he cited.

But in none of those cases you mention did slavery "die out". In every case it was ended by being outlawed by the government, and almost always over the opposition of the slave owners. So how long and under what circumstances would it have taken for the government to end slavery in the U.S. and for the remaining slave holding states to say "OK?" Or for the Confederacy to have done it assuming they won their independence?
