Voting is under way in a historic referendum on whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union or leave. A record 46,499,537 people are entitled to take part, according to provisional figures from the Electoral Commission. Polling stations opened at 07:00 BST and will close at 22:00 BST. It is only the third nationwide referendum in UK history and comes after a four-month battle for votes between the Leave and Remain campaigns. In common with other broadcasters, the BBC is limited in what it can report while polls are open but you can follow the results as they come in across the BBC after polls close on Thursday evening.

Thank you
Definitely. I do believe there is more outward fight in the American right, and I desperately hope Trump prevails. It is going to take such an enormous effort, and the scum rhinos like Ryan and Romney and self servers like Cruz are not doing that effort any favors.
Thanks, its very very close indeed.
Are the polls closing early because of rain?
What does a high voter turnout mean to you?
Could the murder of the MP actually swing that many votes?
Thank you very much! I have to say not entirely, the stench of corruption is horrific, and the irony is that it is that much easier to pass off in a country considered internally and externally as being so democratic. The perfect crime.
Thats an interesting graphic.
Does anyone have any idea how the vote turned out? Can’t find anything anywhere and the polls are closed.
Polls arent closed for another 2 1/2 hours
His support does appear to have done a moon light flit on him ,yes. :)
How are you all Handling the “Cultural Enrichment” , or shouldn’t I mention that?
chicken tikka masala
That depends on who makes it.
It is one of our Cultural high jackings from India.
We added Yoghurt to one of their dishes because it was to spicy, and a legend was born. :)
Please do, and very badly. :-(
Good, only 2 1/2 hours until the identity of the Viernheim perp can be released...
Good luck in the vote!
I can tell you that We do feel for your pain.
They are becoming noticeably bolder by the week.
Stay in touch. :-)
Reconciliation would be considered laughable now, but I could imagine some scenarios where things play out in that direction.
There was a survey about 5 years ago and about 13% of Americans would consider a return to a monarchy. Given the political environment of the last five years, that number is probably higher now.
Question: is the vote binding, or in the event that Leave wins, can the pols just say, “screw you, we’re staying”?
If Cameron openly defies a Leave vote, I would respectfully suggest that the Queen prorogue Parliament and call for new elections.
I remember all the bookies were wrong in the Irish refererendum.
Paddy Power had even paid out on a win :p
Guess I should laugh, but Paddy Power was right in the end I suppose.
I fear that remain will win but it will be a fraudlent vote.
I think Europe and the USA sadly are drifting apart.
In a few years the people with Euopean ancestry in the USA will be a minority.
The new U.S. will look to latin America and Asia...
