There Is No Choice But to Support Trump to Beat Hillary

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let me address something. I've had a couple of emails today, and I should mention this so that you don't think I'm trying to sweep anything under the rug here. I've had emails today from people who say, "You sound awfully enthusiastic about this guy. You know, Trump's not a conservative, Rush. You should be out there pushing Ted Cruz. With all this talk about getting rid of Trump, it's an opportunity to get Ted Cruz back in as the nominee. You're a conservative leader. You ought to be leading that movement."

I said, "Wait a minute. I have not misled anybody at any point during this campaign. From the moment the primaries began, I have been blunt-force up front with everybody about the objective here, which is to beat Hillary Clinton. I don't care with what. There isn't anything worse." We can't... Folks, we can't withstand -- culturally, economically, politically -- we can't withstand another four years of what we've just had the last eight, and that's what it would be, and it would be worse because it would be four more years on top of what are already 7-1/2 (by that time eight) years of genuine destructive politics from the highest office in the land.

For me, this has always been about one thing, and that's about beating Hillary. Whoever the nominee of the Republican Party was going to be was going to get my support. "What about conservatism, Rush?" I don't think I've changed a whit here, folks. Other people have. But for 27 years you've been able to tune in here every day and be confident of what you're gonna get, and you've been able to be confident that it's being honestly spoken to you.

Do I wish Trump were better at certain thing? Do I wish Trump were more instinctive? Of course. But I think no matter who the nominee was, we were going to have problems. Some people would have more problems than others, given who the nominee was. But I can go through the list of people that might have been the nominee and I can pretty much recite what objectives from various Republicans would be. But the greatest unifying aspect we have in this race is Hillary Clinton.

And, look, I know, folks. Within the conservative movement and within the Republican Party and any other group that's, by definition, not liberal there are all kinds of people worried to death that various things are being abandoned here. Various concepts, precepts, principles are being abandoned. And I know that there are people who think that we're gonna get slaughtered no matter what we do. And, worse, I know some people who want us to be slaughtered.

There's all kinds of people on our side who think the best lesson that could happen is if Trump gets beaten in huge landslide so that we don't make this mistake again. I've heard that philosophy argued one way or the other since the beginning days of this program. And there's one thing I've learned: I don't ever see the advantage in losing. I just haven't been able to find it. I haven't been able to find victory in losing.

And in this case, defeating Hillary and everything else that goes along with that is paramount to me. I'm by no means confident that it can happen, and I want to be, so I'm looking for hopeful signs that this can happen, and I do think they're there. I think she's a weak, weak candidate. I think she has vulnerabilities left and right. She is not loved. She's not adored. Her negatives? You talk about Trump? Her negatives are almost as high as his are to the point they cancel each other out.

But my support for defeating Hillary Clinton is not meant and does not in any way signal that I am -- what's the term? -- going soft on core beliefs or core principles. You know, my favorite phrase has become a cliche. But I still like it. "It is what it is." You have to be... I'm the mayor of Realville. You have to deal with what you have to deal with. It doesn't do anybody any good to wish things were different. Unless you have an opportunity to make them different. And I don't think that makes much sense right now, but we shall see.

“How is this a hard choice? It took Rush this long?”

I have to agree with you. I had to chuckle at some of Rush’s statements he made.

“Thank-you Mr. Limbaugh for giving your support.”

That was about as halfhearted an endorsement as I've seen. “Oh well, for the time being, realism has set in so I'll begrudgingly say I'm for Trump.” For me, Rush is still a disgrace (and so is that worthless turd Levin). The word “conservative” has been sullied by a lot of the folks he still seems to “revere.” If kissing these guys a$$es is what “conservatism” is all about, count me out. I want a president who intends to do something other than “preen his conservative principles,” whatever the hell that amounts to!

I’ve never been a Rush fan or listener. I think he’s a jerk.

Rush, how many American lives did Trump’s ineptitude cost in Libya?

How many secrets has he sold to foreign governments?

Rush is a moron if he thinks there is any comparison.

Smart people understand the importance of unity in defeating Hillary Clinton and don’t continue to insult persons (and their supporters) when they join in that effort. The idea that Limbaugh would only support Trump to avoid losing his listeners is absurd. There was never any doubt that he’d support whichever Republican candidate won in the primaries. Why? Because Hillary is worse (the same reason he supported McCain and Romney, both of whom he’d criticized, over Obama).

American voters are not so smart (after all they elected Obama twice, and have filled up the Senate and House with corrupt and incompetent clowns). Most of them know very little about politics or anything else, and allow their emotions to sway them in irrational ways. (The only reason representative governments tend to do better for people as a whole — in the long run — than dictatorships by elites is that elites can’t be trusted to look out for the interest of the people. Still, there’s a limit to how foolish the people can be. No system of government is fool-proof.)

The more obnoxious remarks I see from Trump supporters the harder it is for me to support him. I have no doubt that if Trump hadn’t won the primaries, many of his supporters would have refused to support the Republican nominee (many said so on this forum).

Letting personal antipathies affect your vote, though — and take precedence over the good of the country — isn’t wise. I’m trying not to let that happen with me. The more obnoxious remarks I read from Trump supporters, though, the more difficult that is. That kind of stuff doesn’t help him. Why not save your hatred of actual and potential Trump supporters for after the election?

[Actually, you’ll probably need it for Hillary, the next President, if many of the persons you’ve been insulting don’t decide to oppose her.]

We had a marxist muslim coup thanks in part to douchecanoes like fat boy Rush and the fake one Levin.

These two frauds never brought up the fact that O’muslim was never eligible to be POTUS. Then, after seven years off this POS muslim at the helm, neo-con_Levin and oxy fat boy pushed an ineligible canadian creep to run against Hillary.

Every NeverTrumper had about a 1 day grace period when Trump first announced to figure out sh!t from shinola.

The careers of the neverTrumpers are over. They put their personal interests about that of the Country.....fvck them.

You think a Trump supporter should not criticize Mark Levin?

And your vote will be decided based on comments from Trump supporters here?

I think you should wake up. People can criticize talk show hosts, they can even criticize you.

If that affects your vote as between DJT and HRC, that’s your problem. Man up and vote the right way as you see it, stop threatening others because you don’t like what they said about Rush Limbaugh.

Stay home or vote for Hillary if you like but don’t bother to warn me about my free speech because I don’t care.

Rush has acted like a coward nor is this the first election he’s done so. However he obviously loved Trump’s speech today.

Mark Levin? Puleeze, he had been ranting like a wild dog.

Now if those comments make you not vote for DJT, knock yourself out.

“The more obnoxious remarks I see from Trump supporters the harder it is for me to support him.”

I guess you are still a “Big C” conservative. Fine, if that floats your boat, but I feel I’ve been sold a bill of goods by “conservatives” my entire life and now I find out that most of them were just using the term to cajole me into giving them my vote when, in reality, they were just crooked shills for big money business interests. Rush and Levin are in that bunch in my opinion, along with Cruz and Rubio. They are all charlatans who have no principles excepting gaining control of our government for those who pay them.
You know after WWII Chiang Kai Shek took over China, but he didn’t follow through with the promised reforms, always telling his people that when he just got a little more power, he’d do what he’d promised. So along came the Communists, passed out guns to the farmers and told them to shoot anyone who showed up from the government. Well, the GOPe have been like Chiang Kai Shek all of my life, but now Trump is passing out “guns” and I’m all for it. The current crop of DC leaders should all be hanging from lamp posts on PA Avenue, along with most of our “captains of industry,” metaphorically speaking. We really need a good “coup!”

> Rush and the fake one Levin

Both argued much more effectively against Obama than anything I’ve seen from you so far. Phrases such as “marxist muslim coup” are good for letting off steam, but they don’t weaken Obama as much as the kind of opposition that Rush and Levin provided (for the persons who listened to them — unfortunately the low-information voters never heard them).

Rush isn’t a NeverTrumper. I haven’t listened to Levin in the last week or so, but I’d be surprised if he turns out to be. Anyone who has heard his positions on the issues knows that they are closer to those of Trump than to those of Hillary. I don’t doubt that he’ll criticize Hillary more than he does Trump between now and the election, and be surprised if he doesn’t explicitly recommend voting for Trump.

> And your vote will be decided based on comments from Trump supporters here?

I said, “I’m trying not to let that happen with me” (and expect to succeed — if annoyed enough, I’ll just quite reading them). I myself said that doing so would be unwise.

You’re free to say what you wish, of course. Just as many Trump supporters wouldn’t have supported candidates who attacked Trump, though, insulting persons such as Rush and Levin is likely to push some of their more hotheaded admirers over the edge into not voting for Trump (though I doubt that a significant number would vote for Hillary).

Hillary is a relatively weak candidate. The main obstacle to her defeat is that many who dislike her may stay home and not vote because they dislike Trump — and his supporters — too. (If the same percentage of Republicans had voted for Romney as had voted for McCain in the previous election, Obama wouldn’t have been re-elected.)

I don’t like Trump. BUT I will definitely vote for him ... staying home, writing in Peter Pan or leaving it blank is a vote for Killary.

People who think they’re too pure to vote for Trump must think they are playing a board game or something. Come on, people, this is real life.

I know “what difference does it make” will finish destroying our country, but Trump may actually do some of the things he says he will.
