Blackouts Loom With California In Power Grid Emergency: "Customers Should Expect 14 Days Without..."

The entire Los Angeles metropolitan area and most of Southern California can expect blackouts this summer.

The power grid is under direct threat as a result of the unprecedented, but little reported, massive natural gas leaks at Alisco Canyon that was ongoing for four months as an intense summer heat wave sets in.

According to Reuters:

California will have its first test of plans to keep the lights on this summer…

With record-setting heat and air conditioning demand expected in Southern California, the state’s power grid operator issued a so-called "flex alert," urging consumers to conserve energy to help prevent rotating power outages - which could occur regardless.

Electricity demand is expected to rise during the unseasonable heatwave on Monday and Tuesday, with forecast system-wide use expected to top 45,000 megawatts, said the California Independent System Operator (ISO), which manages electricity flow through the state. That compares with a peak demand of 47,358 MW last year and the all-time high of 50,270 MW set in July 2006.

That could put stress on the power grid, particularly with the shut-in of Aliso Canyon, following a massive leak at the underground storage facility in October ...

The large-scale natural gas disaster - which curiously escaped media frenzy and widespread environmental concern - has resulted in the shutdown of key storage facilities that supply most of the power for the southern portion of the state.

As summer demand for electricity to cool homes and businesses kicks into high gear, power plants are planning to shut down, with supply shortages triggering controlled blackouts and brownouts.

Reports say that "all customers" should expect to be without power a total 14 days - 2 weeks time - out of this summer. Some 21 million Californians stand to be directly affected

Look at the bright side ... this isn't nearly as bad as it's going to be when the water levels in Lake Mead drop another three feet or so!

They need to move forward the shut down of the nuclear power plants. For the children, you know.

And, of course, they need to scapegoat Ken Lay again. That’s who they blamed last time for their own poor planning and regulatory overkill.

Being a Socal native from San Diego, I remember we had an energy crisis with rolling blackouts under former Gov. Grey Davis who was recalled for Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Given that CA has been given to suicidal lemmings, I don’t anticipate history to repeat for Brown. And yes, that pisses me off to high heaven.

Trump could promise to build a WATER pipeline from Oregon/Wash. It would be easier to sacrifice the 3” fish but a pipeline would be something EVERYONE could see. The price? A Republican Governor in 18’ leading to the promise of the 2020 convention in Sacramento.

Gray Davis and now Jerry Brown.

Do we call them gray-outs or brown-outs?

Let me see, which group runs this state? LIBS.

What party are most libs in: Dummocrap.

I wonder if anyone with more mental horsepower than an amoeba can figure out what has happened to the once great state of California. If they cannot, I will spell it out for them: run by democrates, enabled by liberals, and that equals decreases in the standard of living. Last man out, turn out the lights assuming they are still on.

It is called putting all your eggs in one basket. Leave out coal and this is the result. Cut CA out of the grid, and problem solved. Let them bask in their environmental heaven.

I would also suggest what has zero (pun intended) chance of success but ought to be done for the sake of the country, the Republic, and the preservation of the Constitution.

You forgot that once they relocate to a functioning state they immediately want all the same laws and politicians that screwed up California.

California has had the gall to sue Arizona for not selling them more electricity. They did not get anywhere but they tried it nonetheless.
