He flew Royal Navy helicopters carrying Royal Marine commandos for a number of years. Britain was at peace at the time so he was never called on to fight for his country, but he was more than prepared to do so as a Naval officer if he was called on to do so.
He has been saying this for years. The fact you might not have heard about it before isn’t because he hasn’t been saying it. He’s been one of the few western leaders to consistently speak up in defence of Christians in the Middle East as well.
