Recoil affects different people differently.

I am 6’3” and weigh 295. I used to work with a guy who was around 5’8” and about 160.

He had just bought a new model 94 Commemorative. I can’t remember which one but it had plenty of gold and a brass curved butt plate.

I had my Sharps 54 cal. It loaded from the rear but used black powder.

Now the Sharps loaded with 90 grains of fffg just seemed to give me a push. My friend said it actually hurt him.

Just the opposite with the model 94. It really hurt my shoulder, I think the curved butt plate was part of the problem. He said it did not bother him at all.
