Hi and welcome.

I would very much like to hear why you voted for Obama and what changed your mind.

Thanks

Thanks for your warm welcome, ecomcon!
Obama’s stories about how his mother was dying from ovarian cancer and literally struggling with insurance forms in her hospital room moved me, as that resonated as a top priority in my life. I’ve never had any health coverage until his Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) and have at least had some peace of mind for about 3 years. My limited income qualified me for a Managed Care Organization or Medicaid in Maryland. Finally having a Primary Care Physician has helped me get my blood pressure under control, lose about 45 pounds and monitor border-line glucose levels. I still have trouble with cholesterol because of side effects (leg pain) from taking statins. My doctor has tried three and I still ache all over. Under current rules, I am eligible to continue on my MCO until I turn 65. I am 56 now. There is heart disease on both sides of my family and I am also fearful of Alzheimers/dementia—as I watched my mother rapidly decline mentally until her death in 2012.
I am personally grateful to Obama for fulfilling this one crucial promise, although I have family members dealing with the annual deductible. I realize Obamacare has been a nightmare for many due to the sky high deductibles and exorbitant premiums. Moreover, I wonder if it will be repealed and replaced as Mr. Trump has vowed to do. Will the two SCOTUS rulings stand?? Again, for purely selfish reasons, I hope this is the ONLY area in which Trump might not entirely succeed as POTUS.
In conclusion, while I am thankful for Obamacare, I otherwise feel Obama has been/is a disaster as President and I cannot wait to see him leave the White House in January!!
Right now, national security and defeating terrorism is my principal focus. We desperately need a strong leader who will always put the United States first above all others. No more apologies and deadly political correctness!!
I want that wall built asap and a moratorium on “refugees” coming into the country.
BTW, Mr. Trump affected me so deeply that he compelled this lifelong democrat to switch to republican in March so that I could vote for him in my Maryland primary April 26!! I had registered in high school in 1978 and been a democrat for 38 years. Not even Reagan, whom I voted for both times, prompted me to take that step.
Right now, I am praying night and day that Mr. Trump is our 45th POTUS! He represents the ONLY HOPE we have to save our country and restore its greatness!!
P.S. I am totally outraged over how way too many republicans refuse to enthusiastically support Mr. Trump and fully appreciate how blessed we are to have him willing to fight so hard for all of us!!!
