Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) attended a confidential dinner with more than 20 top conservatives on Tuesday night to plan his comeback as a movement leader in the mold of Ronald Reagan.
The dinner was at the Virginia home of conservative activist Brent Bozell, and the agenda was to plot Cruzs future and the future of the conservative movement. The undertone of the dinner was about how to position Cruz for a future tilt at the presidency and to spearhead the conservative movement from his seat in the Senate, those in attendance said.
Dining with Cruz and his chief of staff, Paul Teller, were some of the most powerful figures in the conservative movement.
The spectrum of economic, national security and social conservatives seated at the table included Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint, Club for Growth President David McIntosh, direct-mail guru Richard Viguerie, National Rifle Association board member and former Cincinnati Mayor Ken Blackwell, and Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, sources confirmed.
According to those in attendance, the leaders discussed how they could work more effectively together and how to harness their vast financial and human networks in the service of conservative principles and Cruz's career.
Combined, those at the table have access to hundreds of millions of dollars and some of the largest ground armies on the right.
There was no specific discussion of electoral politics or whether Cruz will support presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump this cycle.
Many of the leaders at the dinner want Cruz to run for president again, and they are viewing Cruzs unsuccessful 2016 run as similar to Reagans failed attempt in 1976 to unseat the incumbent Republican president, Gerald Ford.

Absolutely.
I thought he might lighten up after the first banning....silly me.
Or perhaps it’s more a case of arrested moral development. Most of us, when we’re quite young, see people as either good or bad. For example, if you have good parents, we see them as all good. The idea that they have flaws is incompatible with this level of morality.
Typically with time this perception changes. We begin to see people as complex, with even very good people having shortcomings, and even not good people having a decent trait or two.
Then you’ve got people that never make it to that level of morality. Even as adults, they see people as all good or all bad. To a Cruz supporter operating on this moral level, Cruz is all good and Trump is all bad. Hence their inability to see Cruz’ flaws, and hence too our frustration. When you’re dealing with a person that can’t get beyond, All Good vs All Bad, facts, logic and rationality don’t attain. The only possible outcome of engaging with such an individual is futility.
This isn’t to suggest the arrested development person is a bad person. Often they’re very good people. They’re just not very mature, fwiw.
AMEN!!!!
Well said, Fantasywriter.
I am guessing towards a “suspension” possibly, in the like form of the several reappearances of, *LobbyLu.
It’s like Fatal Attraction.. some are allowed to keep resurfacing. You think they are gone and then BOOM, they’re back.
I get it. It’s not easy for the management to kiss off these old timers who have just lost it over this primary.
It takes guts to find the boot and deliver its swift force to the seat of the pants, but this is over the rise and fall of our country, now.
Who needs a Cruz discussion still yammering from the nose bleed section.
It’s either TRUMP, or the USA is a BUST. Period. The game playing and the sore loser sniffle crowd have got to fight along side of us or get out of the way.
:)
+1!
I couldn’t add anything more to your words Rita, but in all honesty I just wanted to claim the coveted “#350” post, lol
LOL!!
You GOT it, my dear friend,...you earned it! HA!!
LOL to your pic onyx. But you forgot the required music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p13yZAjhU0M
That is also when said goodbye to Lying Ted forever and swore he’d never get my vote. For a supposed constitutional scholar (yeah right) to try to deprive people their free speech rights was traitorous. But doing it to the very people who were willing to support him was by far the most foolish thing he ever could have done.
Chicago was so unforgivable that not even the most fervent Cruzlim will defend it or even respond to the criticism because they know it’s true that he sold Republican voters out in an attempt to score a few cheap political points with the media.
EPIC FAIL for LYING LOSER Ted Cruz. He’s no better than Romney.
Cruz is the same as a $3 bill.
Suspended until after the election and Trump kicks bump will be okay.
I see that damn photo of the Reb general, and I go away.
I think that’s exactly it, Rita.
I’m fine with a suspension until after the election, but I agree, that photo of Nathan Bedford Forrest makes me very uneasy.
Good.
I hope you listened. What a fun blast from the past.
