While your points are well taken, the Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian Resort is no reasonable person’s idea of “wilderness water.” Many (not you) are casting nasty aspersions on these parents that are frankly repugnant. I guess it’s a human reaction, to think “we” would somehow always be able to avoid tragedies that befall “other people.”
In Florida, all water bodies, man made or natural, are home to alligators. Almost all of Disney property before they built in the late 60’s, was swamp land. The park is a wildlife preserve and the gators are right at home.
Even here in NW Florida we have gators on the beaches from time to time on the Gulf of Mexico. People have been attacked walking their dogs along the edges of the sound and even inland several miles from shore we have gators in the Eglin AFB areas...................
Not saying anything nasty about the parents. We all make mistakes. But it is not Disney’s fault.
