From the text of the passage as written, it’s entirely clear to any literate reader that “they” refers to women who ramble on about how much they want to be liberated.
Oh I did not miss it..Actually, I am a literate reader—I taught college business English.
I just find it obnoxious when people stereotype women or any other group with words like “they.”
“They” do not speak for me, and I never asked them to do so. I take issue with posters assuming that one position represents all women.
You assert that you “didn’t miss it”, and that you therefore realized I was not stereotyping women. Then you go on to admit that, in fact, you did miss it and resented that I was stereotyping women. Or simply chose to ignore it. Or something equally illogical.
The fact that you taught business English is clearly not much of a recommendation, and certainly no guarantee of literacy.
