The media will just say it was an “assault rifle” and they should be banned

Of course given how long the ordeal was, he could have strangled 50 people to death easily.
Also, Islam is the religion of peace, and some Muslims are not terrorists, therefore no Muslims are terrorists, so the motive for this latest tragedy is a complete mystery. However, we are certain that the next time a mass shooting occurs, no one in the crowd should be able to defend himself, so BAN BOOMSTICKS NOW!

Fire control on MCX is basically that of an AR. The gun has easily interchangeable calibers by changing barrels and a few other components. The thing that makes it a superior weapon (IMHO) is a short stroke piston instead of direct impingement gas actuation which cruds up the bolt, chamber and action with unburnt powder and burnt powder residue etc.
Not an AR.....better.

People need to get this straight; an AR15 is NOT an assault weapon, when you pull the trigger it only fires one shot!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but although the lib’s suggest that the only purpose of these weapons is to kill people, military weapons along with their munitions are NOT designed to kill the enemy. They are designed to injure the enemy. Hence the copper clad ammo...
The round is designed to pass through the foe, there by taking out not just the target but the 2 or three fighters that have to attend to him.
The truth is that a hunting rifle is designed to kill, not an assult rifle...
This is silly. Its not important that its a SIG and not an AR. These are just makes and models, not a difference in kind.
Its equivalent to an AR-15 in every important respect. It could have been a Mini-14 or Tavor or HK or AK just as well. If anyone is going to start banning they will get the lot of them no matter what make and model.

BTW, I’m a certifiable gun nut and even I don’t care that the rifle was not specifically an AR-15. To quote our future president “What difference does it make?”
I’ve heard silly arguments on Free Republic over the years. This one deserves up there in the hall of fame. We are not talking about the finer points that saturate the gun blogs, this is a fundamental fight over the right to own and operate firearms. The Sig is essentially the same as any of the other variants of the M-16 .223 semiautomatic rifles.
These comments are completely missing the point. These people want to take away all of your weapons, lock you up in a concentration camp and send your family to a reeducation camp. Any of these models of semiautomatic rifles would have been sufficient for this lunatic purposes. A Remington 700, a Springfield M-1917, or even a .69 caliber Charleville flintlock musket would have been more than sufficient. When everyone in a club is disarmed by law, and required to depend on our government and their ignorant and incompetent political leaders to keep them safe we will continue to see these massacres.
Stop enabling these ludicrous arguments and make the point that American citizens have the fundamental right to defend themselves and that our law enforcement organizations can do nothing but string up crime scene tape after the killing is over.
But since it was a shooting, the media is having a field day going after the manufacturer of the AR-15...................................... Manufacturer? One? Manufacturers is a better word, because there are now dozens of them out there producing copies of the AR15.
