That was my first thought. You can empty the entire clip (excuse me, magazine) in an M-16, and it feels like getting a mild massage.
It’s a wonder the 3 round burst didn’t dislocate my shoulder if he was beaten black and blue by his experience.
We used to show recruits there was no reason to flinch when shooting the M-16 by firing a round with the butt of the weapon on our chin. Don’t recommend more than one shot, but the point was demonstrated.
