NARRATIVE FAIL: Orlando Islamic Terrorist Did NOT Use An AR-15
Bearing Arms ^ | June 13, 2016 | Bob Owens

The anti-gun politimedia wasted no time at all demonizing the most common rifle in the United States as being the real villain of the Islamic terrorist attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

Newsweek screamed, “ORLANDO SHOOTING PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON AR-15 RIFLE.”

Judd Legume of Think Progress squeaked, “The NRA’s Love Affair With The AR-15, Weapon Of Choice For Mass Murderers, In 22 Tweets.”

Always wrong Christopher Ingraham of the Washington Post whined, “The gun used in the Orlando shooting is becoming mass shooters’ weapon of choice.”

Here’s the thing.

The rifle used by the Islamist terrorist in Orlando was not an AR-15.

That's not it. You can see it at the New York Daily News. A patrol person is holding it.

It looks like an AR-15 to me, just the fully-automatic pump-action version of the AR-15. Scary!

Yep, and I'll bet I know why he chose it. That model is SIG's take on the "updated" AR with piston-type gas system. Like a few other similar rifles, the action spring has been moved up front, under the hand guard. No more moving buffer and spring inside the buttstock, so they could put a side-folding buttstock on it.

In short, it's an AR variant - but one that's more concealable than most.

At least now we’ve identified what gun to arrest and put on trial. I here this one’s much smarter and more devious than an AR15. Rumor is it was beaten by a drunk white Christian father growing up.

Well, at this point "what difference does it make"

AR-15 or MCX Carbine....

All those people are still dead...

I don't expect the the media to know the difference between a hole in the ground and their asshole..

He had a Sig Sauer MCX.
I disagree with the link that says it has “has no major parts that interface with AR-15s in any way, shape or form.”

I have a Sig Sauer MCX - and disagree strongly with that.

The uppers and lowers are freely interchangeable, as are many major parts.
An AR-15 derivative is what I believe they call it.
I love mine.

Standard, it comes with a collapsible stock.
You can buy a “arm brace” for it so as to rest on your forearm
and hold it with a single hand also.
There are federal regulations as to the barrel length if you
are doing this - and I would have to read up on that portion.
I just know it is available.
I *don’t* know if he did this or not - but the arm brace is
available.

I handled one a few months ago and I like it. I think the grip design Sig came out with for that has the best ergonomics out there, at least for my hand. What I didn’t like was the trigger pull. Since you have one, perhaps you’d know, is the trigger interchangable with the dozens of aftermarket AR triggers?

I am not sure - but you have me interested so I will read up (or ask around).

I wonder if he used the "pistol configuration" for the MCX. It has the 9" barrel and an arm brace that goes on the fore arm for single handed use.

That would have allowed him to conceal it better:

Could be, but I think that would take quite a bit of practice since nothing else is quite like it. I’d like to have the SBR version, which of course still allows use of a butt stock, which would be almost a necessity on a select fire version.
