Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick deletes "reap what you sow" tweet after mass shooting at LGBT club

At precisely 7 a.m. Sunday Dan Patrick tweeted a photo with the words of Galatians 6:7. The verse reads, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."

The Twitterverse circled the tweet, commenting that it was inappropriate and insensitive considering the context of the day's events. The Texas Democratic Party called for Patrick to apologize.

Allen Blakemore with Patrick's office told the Dallas Morning News that the tweet was prescheduled and not a reaction to the shooting, noting, "This was certainly not done with any fore knowledge of the events of the day."

Another verse was tweeted from the account 30 minutes later, this time from Psalm 37:39, which reads, "The Salvation of the righteous come from the Lord; He is their stronghold in time of trouble."

Okay, lets start over. BenL in #3 said, “I’m still trying to figure out why the “Twitterverse” associates a New Testament quoate with a Muslim terrorist.”. I replied, "To them, there is no difference...".

So, "them" was in reference to this "Twitterverse", which is associating NT with the Muslim terrorist. Does that make sense? If not, there is no point in discussing.

You do not apologize for the truth.

But to be honest it really doesn’t matter it was a gay club.

Infidels sin. Whatever sins may trip a muslim to do this is purely up to the muslim.

He could have been pissed about bathing suits and went to a beach and opened fire on people.

He could have went to any bar and done the same.

He could have went to a church and done the same.

It’s what a muslim finally decides is going to set him off.

They all need to go. Either alive back to their muslim countries, or dead.

The sad reality for leftists is that basically no Christian exists who hates gays enough to do something like this.

And guess what... you too are in the set of recipients of that policy from God.

The only safe tack to take is the one that confesses [in whatever terms] that we all are worms but God has provided a way to save us all from wriggling around in hell. The preacher can’t sound superior. This counts me, too. It isn’t always easy.

I only use direct quotes made by subjects close to the investigation but that wish to remain anonymous due to the threat of continuing legal prosecution of openly defying the law.

If Lt. Governor Patrick normally tweets a Biblical verse at that time on Sunday mornings then there is no reason to believe it was anything but an unfortunate choice selected long before the Florida shooting.

Checking his twitter, He does have automatic tweets on Sundays at 8am. I didnt know you could do that. So, its just unfortunate on this day.

And thus it is so, and I apologize.

The interleaved comment format of FR makes it difficult to observe such correlations. This is why I have to keep reminding myself to make comments that are reasonably complete in themselves.

“Pre scheduled tweets”???

How effing stupid do you have a nice be to set up stuff like this? It’s an open invitation to exactly is, unless the spokestool is full of crap and they just posted it on a whim...

Patrick should have stuck to his guns but he folded like he always does. And the GD republicans calls for an apology. I hate the gop as much as I hate democrats and muslims. I pray God will take this hatred from my heart. He does then the gop comes out and demands another apology so I have to start all over.

If I had the resources I might even volunteer to try to offer an alternative thread paginator to FR that would correlate comments both vertically as well as horizontally. We could see where a particular participant has been, as well as who has replied what to whom. The old style would always be there, but a new style would be available to help more readily navigate a discussion.

He is correct. When you allow muslims in your are going to get murdered non-muslims and raped and enslaved women. It is their holy mission ordered by the Koran.

All it takes is the ability to read to figure that one out. You either have to be crazy or have an agenda to believe and continue to propagandize muslims offer one good thing to a free society.

The real question is what democrats gain by transplanting this evil here......breakdown then total control over the American people. Democrats are not about you keeping your freedoms, they want to be your masters and you need to fear for your lives enough to be enslaved and give over your freedoms.

Well, just because of the chance of something like this, and because of the microscope eye on Christians nowadays, I would have suggested a set of inspirational quotations. “You’ve got karma” (proverbially speaking) is really easy to misunderstand.

Even if one did they are commanded not to kill unlike islam. Even if this had been a crazy Christian all Christian churches would condemn the killer unlike islam.

The sad reality.... this is pure propaganda easily seen if a person even has an ounce of logic left. Sadly, logic is the last thing you can have if your a democrat.

I think in the end that allowing large quantities of practicing Muslims in will be Pyrrhic to Democrats.

The current incident is an interesting illustration of a principle. When a massacre happens in modern America, usually it is NOT “gay” people at fault for it. There are things that are even worse.

Maybe the original robo-bible quote was apropos after all. America is tempting fate, so to speak, by heading down this alley of ever more blind iniquity.

Maybe Patrick could have added the second quote without erasing the first one.

I couldn’t keep count of the number of times I’ve heard the MSM and lefty players recite how the monotheistic (i.e. Abrahamic) religions worship the same God, follow same, etc...

That’s what I believe sagars point was with the “are considered” reference.

I would suggest to think of the normal process of preaching as well. It isn’t normally one line zingers. It normally presents a context and calls upon the character of God as expressed through the scripture, to come to a conclusion that has a warning and a hope.

Isolated of itself, the verse smacks of “I told you so.” But even the versification of the bible was not something that came with the original scriptures; it was imposed later. Imagine treating a love letter that way. You’d probably want to quote multiple lines to establish your point, not stop at some arbitrary editor’s boundary point.
