In a historic first, California voters Tuesday sent two Democrats, both minority women, to a November runoff for the states open U.S. Senate seat.
The matchup between state Attorney General Kamala Harris and 10-term Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez marks the first time since voters started electing senators a century ago that Republicans will be absent from Californias general election ballot for the Senate. The outcome reaffirms the GOPs diminished stature in the nations most populous state.
The two were among 34 candidates seeking the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer, a liberal favorite first elected a generation ago, in 1992.
Under California election rules, only two candidates the top vote-getters advance to the November election.

What should Republicans in California do with this race. Both are leftist DemcoRATS and there are no third party options.
Harris is pretty, but a San Francisco leftist. Loretta Sanchez may seek Republican votes, but she’s no moderate and she won her first election through vote fraud.
American citizens should abandon California
Harris will run away with it, she has National ambitions and Odinga likes her. He will be helping her in some way, he will just have to be a bit more covert since Harris is running against another RAT.
We know where camel-uh stands on the 2nd. Sanchez, probably a little less worse. (Like that? LOL!) Not my vote anyway.
Are they going to move things like Lenin’s Tomb or the Kremlin to California?
What conservatives in Cal. must do is vote for Sanchez. If they don’t Harris will run for president in the future and very likely win. Imagine a good looking female Bernie Sanders (yes, it boggles the mind, I know). Harris is hugely popular among the hard left, and is the most dangerous dem. candidate in the country. WAY more dangerous than Warren. Lots of CA conservatives voted for Sanchez in the primary to try to stop Harris.
The republican got 8%—yes, 8% was the take for the leading rep.
CA is dead. Our only chance is for reps. to turn out and put the other lefty in, because she is going NOWHERE and that would greatly hurt Harris in the future.
America, behold thy future.
Yep. Hold your noses and vote for the dumb latina...l.
Concur, the only problem is that Fienstein has one foot in the grave. Unfortunately Harris is inevitable sooner or later short of a scandle she can get buried.
My thoughts exactly... sort of competition as to whom is most radical, terroristic and communist down there
Reminds me of when Willie Brown was running for S.F. Mayor against Tom Ammiano. Willie came to the gop hat in hand. They responded with a statement pointing out their disagreements but referring to him as a ‘capable’ Mayor. Amiano was described as ‘eat the rich.’
“Can’t get buried”
Yes, it is an ugly situation. When the older electorate did not pay attention to what was happening in California about 35 years ago, or so, this is what you end up with. A hoard of leftist voters made up of welfare bums, minorities that think the Rats are ever going to do something for them, illegals in untold numbers that are being fed and bought by the Rats....it is just a total mess. Having been in the state back when it was the national leader by all measures (40+ years ago) and watched in horror as the Rep voters just let the bums of the Left take it all over and destroy it. God help us. All that will remain in California will be bums and retired people...and the hoards working for the “government”.
People get the government they deserve...and they did.
I think I will write in Tom McClintock.
I wish we could blame the D’s for this stupid ‘top two’ system but it was sponsored by Arnold (when was the Gubinator) and Tom McClintock. R’s need more bandages for their foot wounds.
If elected to the Senate, Kamala Harris would be on the road to the White House; if elected to the Senate, Loretta Sanchez would never be able to go any further. Just for that, I’d vote for Sanchez (and then take a long shower).
Were I voting and since there is not any thing close to a moderate or even better a conservative here, I vote for the one who at least has a western styled name.
Neither good but Sanchez preferable to Harris
