Petraeus new group is called the Veterans Coalition for Common Sense, and its attracting support from other former military leaders, namely former CIA Director Michael Hayden and retired Adm. Thad Allen. There are 23 veterans in total on the advisory committee. The goal of the group is to push legislation that mandates stronger background checks for gun purchases, though Mark Prentice, communications director for Americans for Responsible Solutions, affirmed the importance of the Second Amendment.

He’s lost all respect but he was only hanging on by just a little.
This is his way to redeem himself among at least one group — liberals.
The General has crossed the Constitution.
Shall not be infringed isn’t clear enough for him.

This is about making all sales go through the system, thus creating a registry even if they won’t ever admit it.
The first thing gun confiscators need to know is where they are.
What the hell is wrong with this guy?
Threw away a great career, and now this. Ashamed.
My guess is that Betraeus has been watching Weasley Clark and has decided that the best way to rehabilitate his tarnished image is to hop on the leftist bandwagon, where infidelity and divulging classified information is a daily way of life and no big deal.
I don’t know if this is an urban legend or not but didn’t Eleanore Roosevelt want to put returning GI’s from combat areas in camps until they could be safely released back into society?
There are a lot of anti-gun, pro-statists in the flag ranks.
Unfortunately, most Americans don't know or care just how far down the drain we've slid!
It is not the VA, not the upper ups, it is the gun that somehow creates demoralization suicidal thoughts. Our military is filled with fascist traitors and unaccaountable officer-terrorists ready to blame anything but themselves.
No wonder they embraced gay rights. These people would readily sell the same language of arms treaty control handing nukes to Iran/UN and disarming the US military posture against foreign enemies. These are globalist traitors
Mark my word, these militaries think the Us citizen should be enlisted and at the boot of military law as applied in the miltary. This activism is inherently a violation of using arm forces on US citizens.
They want us to comply with their sodomitics instead of letting us be free. Unbelievable that these militaries are trying to realign the citizen with their internal policies of control, because we know a familess f@g can only have the state as daddy.
Such a great book title.
Should have put him in jail.
“In order to have a registration law, you have to have a deregistration law.”
Without a legal requirement for you to report the sale or transfer of your firearm(s), a background check is nothing more than a snapshot. You can sell your gun the next day, or ten years from now, and the Feds know nothing of it.
Like saying, “once you buy this firearm & the background check is made, you must keep this gun forever so we will always know where it is.”
No, a majority in Congress will have to stick their necks onto the chopping block and vote for a national gun registry. Bammie can’t order it with the stroke of his pen, much as he’d like to.
And yes, in 1994 when the Dems lost their majority in both houses of Congress, one defeated dork actually said that losing his bid for reelection was worth it just to see the AWB passed.
Maybe they are all racists afraid of black folks and Muslims having guns. And then there are the crazy folks taking big pharmaceutical meds that make them crazier. And let’s not forget the crazy jilted lovers.
Maybe these fine men should humble themselves before God and lead by example.

Universal background checks is code for all sales must be reported. All other transfers will be illegal.
Might be just a teensy bit unenforceable, unless a Stasi style network of informants is established, with a 1-800-DENOUNCE hotline.
Getting SWATd by one’s disgruntled liberal neighbor is already the nightmare scenario in some states.
Still, like dey say in da hood, “Snitches get stitches”.
