A Georgia homeowner shot in the neck after police went to the wrong house has died, a lawyer for the family said Friday.
William Powell, 63, died Thursday afternoon at Atlanta Medical Center, attorney Keith Martin said.
A preliminary review of the 911 call indicates the three officers who responded had gone to the wrong home and showed up at Powell's house, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
Powell was armed with a gun and was shot in the neck by one of the officers, authorities said. He had grabbed the gun for protection, not knowing who might be outside in the dark of night, Martin said. A nearby home had been burglarized just two weeks before the shooting, he added.

Then let the “boys” lie thru their teeth......
If anything happens, wait until the LEO Establishment lies thru their teeth to the public. Then broadcast the hit on youtube.
Make them all famous.
It’s going to take a political groundswell to push back against the trend.
Liberals have convinced Americans that they are better off with an all powerful armed elite while being unprotected themselves. And the elite in turn then works tirelessly to get more and more power.
"...'Bang' 'Stop resisting' 'Bang, bang' 'Stop resisting'..."
Sounds suspiciously like a swatting.
anyway, these 3 officers should have their firearms pulled and put on duty that doesn’t require a firearm for the rest of their careers.
It’s the only way to stop this nonsense. Prosecuting rarely does any good because most times it’s just perceived as a mistake and/or accidents and the civil suits do not punish the officers involved.
Who watches the watchers???
An independent board which also includes one representative police officer not from the department in question should review officer involved shootings. I have relatives who are currently officers or retired and the retired one is literally on his death bed and he told me he was told to carry a drop gun and did so his entire career just in case.
If it is a righteous shoot fine if not let the law take its course just like it would on any other citizen. But it won’t because the elites and bureaucracy are held to no standards while the average citizen will have the book thrown at them.
Why would he deliberately defy the police if he understood they wanted him to follow instructions?
Almost certainly the shine flashlights in his eyes, shouted confusing, contractor and generally incoherent instructions and while he’s thinking “What?” they murder him in his home in cold blood.
“Throw down your weapon!.....BANG!.............Or I’ll shoot!.....................
There was. But the badge lickers react by shouting down all critics as "BLM" and citing phony stats about how many cops are being murdered. Face it. The frog is boiled. We live in a police state now. And "conservatives" are just as guilty as the totalitarian Left.
I remember when posses made sense.
“Something tells me that this incident will be costly.”
And it should be.
+1.
One might wonder to what extent situations like Baltimore are overreactions to an elite-allpowerful-guardian model that isn’t viable in any truly civilized society. BLM are loathsome parasites and troublemakers, but could they be largely taking advantage of a situation that was bad in the first place?
The ‘badge lickers’ simply haven’t experienced police abuse first hand.
And BLM isn’t trying to “democratize” the process of domestic security. It’s trying to change who the elites are, but otherwise keep the model just the damned same as it was.
This is just a real tragedy
And when you ask if there is some more reasonable way to address the public, they distract the discussion by complaining how easy it is to get shot.
What ever happened to courage. If you are going to get commended for showing it, it might be a good idea to show it in the first place.
Unfortunately the 911 call didn’t give a specific address. It was a location.
Oh yeah! When this was AMERICA, there would've been tar & feathers or worse when things like this happened.Back in the '40s some town literally went to war with a corrupt force and ran them out of town. I think they made a movie out of it.
