Well, I had to look it up....It has now gone on my list of words I’ve never run across before. Most of them are from FR and some fantastic ones from Mychal Massie and also Walter Williams.

As did I. I will never be too old to learn new and useful words.
It is now on my growing list. For the benefit of other Freepers...

"contemnors = a person or entity who is guilty of contempt before a judicial or legislative body"

“”I will never be too old to learn new and useful words.””

Me either - I love new words but I will never find a use for them in normal conversation. My husband already says “huh?” to everything I say - that’s because he can’t hear now. So be warned, guys or gals - don’t make a habit of saying “huh” because by the time it happens for real, it has grown pretty old and irritating...

Heck - most of the words on my list I wouldn’t even be able to pronounce so that defeats the purpose, doesn’t it? Oh! well, I’m enjoying keeping it anyway.

Did you see “usufruct” and “termagant” in a recent article by Mychal Massie?

Guess who “termagant” applies to:

1.a harsh-tempered or overbearing woman.
There are two possible answers!!! Not hard to guess WHO!!

Usufruct: the right to enjoy the use and advantages of another’s property short of the destruction or waste of its substance.
