Right, combined with the poor leadership, organization and strategy of the French. But not by the cowardice of the French soldiers at the front. That's my point. I've grown tired of the "How many gears does a French tank have?" jokes.
Good point. They barely made a peep the last 7.5 years with a Marxist president. Now, all of a sudden, they have principles. The only 2 real issues that it appears that they disagree with Trump are the borders and US involvement in foreign wars. I guess cheap labor is really important to them.
That is a good way to put it. Really something strange to watch.
The French resistance in WW2 was fierce and daring from what I read. I think the problem lies in the ineptitude of their high command during WW2 by allowing the troops to be routed by bad decisions. That and the fact that Parisians low opinions of Americans (outside of Paris, I found that the French are very hospitable and regard Americans with respect) make them an easy target for ridicule.
That being said (and I apologize), I can resist this joke:
Q: How can you identify a French Infantryman?
A: Sunburned armpits.
It's about the petrodollar and the use of the US military to enforce its sovereignty. Trump is virtually the first Presidential candidate in modern times to make noises indicating that doing so isn't his #1 priority.
But it is the elites' #1 priority. To the extent that they will attempt to eliminate anyone - Assad, Qaddafi, Mubarak, Snowden, Paul, Trump, even Putin and Xi if they could manage it - who endangers the continuance of the petrodollar regime.
Their mouthpieces like Kristol are no different than their politicians - getting vast amounts of Saudi and Qatari cash under the table to change the subject and keep public opinion focused on side issues.
Aren’t you supposed to have most of the major points - like “Are you going to run?” - worked out before you make the announcement?
New Frech perfume called “Surrender.” It’s in a white bottle found on the shelf behind the American and British perfumes.
You would think they would.
But Kristol and Romney were so desperate to help get Clinton elected they announced for French before he had even decided.
This is not just a Kristol fail. It is also a Romney fail.
Is this the French guy?
He won’t run b ut he did a job trying to demonstrate “fairness” by trashing Hillary and adding an extra lick against Trump while “humbly not running”. He’s a tool and agrees with Kristol but doesn’t have the same conviction.
Cheese-eating surrender monkey.
I guess this means Kristol will have to just roll up his sleaves and run for President himself. I’m sure he will be unstoppable with the two dozen or so votes that he’ll get from people who think that the Weekly Standard is worth reading.
Kristol hates the French. Found a sly way to give them a bad name ....
WWII French rifle for sale.
Never fired and only dropped once.
Rat-boy Kristol looks like as big a dumb-azz as he is.
I read a book about the German attack on the Maginot line in June, 1940 (from the German perspective). Both morale and performance were poor.
Indeed, the overwealming French superiority in the Saar offensive produced no meaningful results, although as you propose, that might have been more the result of poor leadership than performance by the troops.
Just like Mitt Romney could hardly force himself to say one bad word against Obama, even when running against him in 2012, but he's all full of flight and bluster when it comes to Trump. Interesting how Uniparty works, isn't it?
Similarly, Kristol and other "principled conservatives" had absolutely no problems with the various liberal positions taken by Bush, McCain, and Romney when those guys were the GOP nominees, but now they become purist economic libertarians and conservative ideologues when it comes to Trump, most of whose stated positions ought to be much less objectionable than most other GOP nominees we've had from 1988 on. It just goes to show that their real objection to Trump is that he's not the choice of the GOP elites, but they can't come out and say it, so affecting ideological purity gives these hypocrites some cover.
The French had an entirely defensive mindset in 1939-40, the total inverse of 1914. Even when presented with the opportunity to attack the lightly defended western defenses of Germany in September, 1939 they couldn't bring themselves to do it.
You need to send that to his Twitter account!
