As a Rubio supporter who's now come over to the Trump train, I need some remedial help. You guys that have been with Trump all the way - how do you treat these idiosyncrasies? Do we agree with Trump that Martinez is doing a lousy job, but then agree she's always been great when Big Don changes his mind? Do we laugh off his insults and just say That's just Trump? A little help please?

That’s kind of the elephant in the room. I’ve stated since
December that if Donald Trump were the nominee I’d vote for him in the general but he sure makes it hard sometimes. I’d like to see him win or come out on top when comparing policy and principle rather than just lobbing verbal Molotovs until one ignites. Just my opinion.

This is how Trump operate. Trump like people who say nice things about him and dislike people who say bad things about him. He’s a counter puncher. If someone get nasty with him, he throw it back. He rather not have to have enemies, he prefer friends. So if Susana is willing to make peace, he’s will make friend with her.

I think of it this way:

You hit Trump, he looks into your record and biography, and figures out where you've screwed up, and he hits you back with that. Bad job as governor (Walker, Martinez), bad votes, bad personal traits, whatever.

Join up with Trump and Trump welcomes you to the fold, and offers to help you change your ways for the better, if you follow him to victory. He won't need to hit you on your bad economic policies as governor, because he will show you a better way. An America first way.

She didn't care much for his political views, and made it clear.

He does not think much of her political views, and made THAT clear.

However, he can be civil.

Fair question.

Here’s how I see it. Trump is constantly wheeling and dealing. We don’t know everything that is going on behind the scenes. He has hinted that people who bad mouth him want to bury the hatchet. Look at the whole Lindsay Graham thing. It sounds like SM reached out behind the scenes and he decided to lay off of her. Or he wants more unity going into the convention. It’s not something to get concerned about.

I think it’s his way of apologizing for going after her.

Trump is inspiring and persuading her to do what he wants. Read what Scott Adams says about Trump.

That's called politics. Look to your boy Rubio who has endorsed Trump despite the remarks he made during the campaign about Trump. Business is business.

You ask a very good question! And I will give you a good answer.

Nothing in life is 100%. We are all complex human beings. The more intelligent we are, the more complex we become.

A person like governor Martinez, or any other person for that matter is never going to be 100% perfect.

Even in marriage, the successful ones are where both spouses are tolerant, and flexible to accommodate the other.

That’s just Trump and part of his leadership style. Notice most of Trump’s attacks are in response to someone saying something about him. Trump will usually label that “nasty”. Then he calls them out for the hacks that they are which is the truth and Trump means it. Then they get blowback and usually come around to being “nice” to Trump. At which time he says he likes them and they like him and at the end of the day, he owns them. He knows how the game works and that he needs to play nice. Big difference is that Trump never grovels or asks for their support. They usually say something incredibly stupid which he pounces on and then they come around. Some might call it leadership.

The first thing you have to understand and accept is, first and foremeost, the number one purpose of politics is too get elected. Idealism and high-minded principles take a back seat to defeating your opponent. Once you get that, it becomes easier to understanding politicians.
