Why can’t city officials and police be held liable if they don’t defend an organized event and those who attend it from a violent mob?

Great question! Unfortunately the courts have already ruled that the police have no obligation to protect or defend anyone.

Supreme court found long ago that police have no duty to protect citizens under any circumstances.

You know, the “we protect and serve” the police have painted on their police cars? Complete bull, and the Supreme Court agrees. You are on your own.

The math the city officials use is: it is easier to let the mob have a few victims than it is to rebuild an entire downtown. The math the police use is: We're already getting overtime just for showing up, and the city cut double overtime, so if I book these slime who will simply be released before I can even get the paperwork done, it'll only be comp'd with vacation time.

Oh, and of course, with their army of legal observers (who never see crimes committed by the people they're watching, only if any crimes are committed against them), there'll be the forced paid leave while the police brutality case is litigated.
