Voters don't hate Joe Biden, 73, the genial vice president who openly agonized last year before deciding not to put himself and his family through the rigors of a presidential bid in the wake of the 2015 death of his son after a battle with brain cancer.
Not most voters, anyway. In a nationwide poll conducted in March for Bloomberg Politics, only 35 percent of respondents had a negative view of Biden compared with 68 percent who had a negative view of Trump, 53 percent who viewed Clinton unfavorably and 41 percent with a negative impression of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who also is vying for the Democratic nomination.
Biden's favorability rating in that same poll was 57 percent compared with 29 percent for Trump, 44 percent for Clinton and 52 percent for Sanders.
If Clinton's email-related problems get worse or other developments sink her popularity far below even Trump's, causing her to step aside, Biden, as a more establishment figure than Sanders, would be the party's likely choice as a "slip-in" candidate and an almost certain winner against Trump.
Sanders' die-hard supporters would be outraged, of course, but they're already outraged. The online ranting of the "Bernie or Bust" crowd that a Trump presidency would ultimately be better for the causes they believe in than a Clinton (or, presumably, Biden) presidency because it would galvanize a progressive revolution in 2020 is naive

Biden is a sleazy liberal snake, but yes that video shows he had some good speaking abilities then, back in the day. I think all that has been leeched out of him by decades of alcohol infusions. But it did exist back then, yes.
Meanwhile, back here in present time, Trump would shred Biden in any contest between the two.
When Truman came through Des Moines on his whistle stop tour that won him the election in 1948, I saw him. I was 12.
So it appears that his main qualification is that voters don’t hate him. That’s lowering the bar quite a bit, Dems.
I don’t think Hellary would like Uncle Joe slipping in.
I don’t think Hellary would like Uncle Joe slipping in.
Right about on schedule.
So it begins. The whispers of Hillary cant win will quickly turn into shouts of We want Joe!. The real question is, will Hillary go quietly or will she go psycho and threaten to expose any Rat that is not on board with her?
The “Conspiracy Theorist” that lives in the house says that Hillary! would have a speech impairing ‘stroke’ pretty darn quick in that case.
Joe Biden would be an excellent 'slip-in' candidate if Hillary Clinton falters
People have have talking about the internecine fighting amongst the Republicans, but for the most part they seem to be uniting behind Trump.
I think Hillary and her whole gaggle of sychophants are in denial about the "email controversy". They won't even consider that they have more problems than the Bernie Surge.
If Hillary gets flanked by the FBI, it will almost certainly deal a death blow to her campaign; I'm anxiously awaiting the moment when some "medical emergency" will take her out of the race an hour ahead of the indictment.
Then, imagine that at the last moment the Democrats try to "slip" Biden in" to the race? Can you imagine what the reactions of the hard left would be? Their convention would make the riots at the 1968 Democrat Convention look like nothing.
I think that is what Obama intends. The last thing Obama wants is for the Clintons to win. That will shut him out of any influence in the party. By backing Biden as the defacto nominee, he knows there is no way Biden could win. That leaves Obama as the main influence of the party when he leaves office. Obama is for Obama.
PLUS Slow Joe swims in the NUDE in front of female Secret Service!! YUK.
