Voters don't hate Joe Biden, 73, the genial vice president who openly agonized last year before deciding not to put himself and his family through the rigors of a presidential bid in the wake of the 2015 death of his son after a battle with brain cancer.
Not most voters, anyway. In a nationwide poll conducted in March for Bloomberg Politics, only 35 percent of respondents had a negative view of Biden compared with 68 percent who had a negative view of Trump, 53 percent who viewed Clinton unfavorably and 41 percent with a negative impression of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who also is vying for the Democratic nomination.
Biden's favorability rating in that same poll was 57 percent compared with 29 percent for Trump, 44 percent for Clinton and 52 percent for Sanders.
If Clinton's email-related problems get worse or other developments sink her popularity far below even Trump's, causing her to step aside, Biden, as a more establishment figure than Sanders, would be the party's likely choice as a "slip-in" candidate and an almost certain winner against Trump.
Sanders' die-hard supporters would be outraged, of course, but they're already outraged. The online ranting of the "Bernie or Bust" crowd that a Trump presidency would ultimately be better for the causes they believe in than a Clinton (or, presumably, Biden) presidency because it would galvanize a progressive revolution in 2020 is naive

This being an anti-establishment wave year, the author might want to rethink that.
Besides which, Biden's negatives will go sky-high when he goes into a gloves-off debate with someone less mentally challenged than he is. Gingrich vs. Biden will be a first-round knockout.
Oops, as presidential candidate it would be Trump vs. Biden. Cat, meet mouse.

LOL
“The real question is, will Hillary go quietly or will she go psycho and threaten to expose any Rat that is not on board with her?”
I’m betting she goes for Door #2 (Full Psycho). After all, what does she have to loose? It will be so devastating to her my bet is she’s dead within a year. The loss will eat out whatever it is that’s left inside her!
I don’t know their rules, but I expect Clinton ‘voluntarily’ withdrawing for health or other reasons would be turning over her delegates to the establishment Democrat, such as Biden. That’s if it happens before their Philadelphia convention/riot. If after, when she withdraws her vice presidential pick would maybe take over.
;/)
Planned from the beginning?
You are saying the knew Clinton was unlikely to make it through the primary process and Biden was the intended nominee to begin with?
Doesn’t make much sense since it will piss off Clinton voters, Sanders voters who are already po’d will become even more enraged when they see their chance to defeat (maybe) Clinton ripped away causing them to in effect have to start over. And Biden is hardly untainted with his multiple episodes of inappropriate touching and plagiarism.
I have no idea what will happen of course but if Biden is not “hated” as much as Trump and Clinton at this time it is possibly because not much is known about him by those who would vote in a general election.
Hillary will not step aside. She sold her soul to get to this point. Her goal is almost in her grasp as she sees it and it will take divine intervention to dissuade her.
Excellent, funny! The drunk white ol court jester to the half breed impostor if entering the race, the media will run stories of conviction and faith his love for this country and his calling due to his decision not to run because of the death of his son. What an honorable man
Quite frankly, Joe Biden is the Dems’ only hope of winning this year.
Clinton HAS to go, or there is no rule of law, and the Dems know that Trump ill not allow her to skate during the campaign season.
A deal will be made with Bernie, who, at heart is a money grubbing Commie SOB, and he will go back to Vermont and retire quite comfortably.
Do not underestimate Joe Biden.
Yes, he is a dummy, but when it comes to kissing babies, making speeches that sound sincere, and doing the meets and greets, there is no one better.
Up close and personal, he is very avuncular and charming.
Even though we have to revise the Peter Principle because Joe has blasted through his level of incompetence, he is a formidable opponent.
Paul Ryan could tell you that.
I mean, watch him set "Frank" straight 28 years ago:
yeah,
Indict Hillary and have Joe the drunk step up to the plate.
In which case maybe three of Sanders 10 million voters will switch to Hillary.
Or Sanders runs third party and screws Hillary and her accomplishes any way.
They can slip him in at the convention. After the convention, though, I’m not sure if they can. They will have to make their decision soon.
It would be a smart move for Biden. He has not been touched by the Clinton scandals, He has not been ripped to shreds by either of the other democrat candidates, and he has not had to spend a dime. And lets face it given the bad blood between Obama and the Clintons, you can guess which one Obama thinks will carry his legacy forward.
I thought Bubba Clinton was THE “slip-in” candidate.
When Biden was showcased at the Academy Awards in January, I suspected he was being positioned to supplant HRC if/when the email scandal really blew up.

If Hillary is indicted Bernie better worry about Arkancide.
Sanders’ die-hard supporters would be outraged, of course, but they’re already outraged.
