A rising NBA rookie was shot to death after breaking into a Dallas apartment he believed belonged to a friend, according to reports.
New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce Dejean-Jones died from a gunshot wound to his abdomen early Saturday after he “kicked open the front door” to a Dallas apartment and the man sleeping inside woke up and shot him, the Dallas Morning News reported.

He was trying to break into an ex-girl friends apartment. It was the 1st birthday of the daughter they had together.
Probably drunk or drugged. The kid is probably better off without someone like this.

I should add that I don’t follow basketball and so don’t think of point guards when I read the word guard.

Yeah, all of his teammates and coaches are saying what a big heart he had and how he persevered through trouble, but he went to three universities, and got suspended at least twice. “ People don’t understand the situation. I dindu nuffin.”
He had been to his estranged girlfriend and baby mama’s apartment earlier in the day. He returns at 3:45 am, goes to the wrong apartment, kicks down the door, doesn’t respond to the tenent’s calls for ID, doesn’t look around and realize he’ in the wrong place, and proceeds to kick down the bedroom door.
I would’ve shot him, too.
