The Cheap Labor Express
Any sweeping generalization is doomed to failure, but based on considerable experience and research, I can confidently say that H1-Bs are important because they provide cheap labor.
The official excuse of “expertise” coming from foreigners is strictly BS. They tend not be experts. They tend to have major communication problems. They tend to not fit well with American culture.
They are not that different from migrant farm laborers.
Great article. The open border GOP liars have hid this issue for a decade.
Theres a lot to be angry about. The H-1B program has caused massive layoffs of American workers and over a decade of wage stagnation. More infuriating is that the victims of H-1B are Americans who played by the rules, got an education in a growing field, and thought theyd have a career future.
There have been bipartisan reasons to keep the public in the dark about H-1B and keep them focused on low wage workers.
If you want to see whats really going on with immigration policy, look at the cash.
Take a look at a list of the top lobbyists on the issue of immigration and its a high-tech wonderland. Microsoft, Intel, Oracle, Qualcomm, Motorola, Google, and, of course, Facebook are all the household names that are spending millions of dollars to influence politicians on immigration.
Masters of the Universe; When billions aren’t enough...
sometimes top-honors technical graduates of the leading American universities (including Stanford right there in Palo Alto- SillyCon Valley)... are denied even courtesy job interviews by major SillyCon Valley tech firms...
(but many of them continue to import many foreigners from Asia, especially communmist China and some India, etc...many of whom are less qualified...)
Funny - I’m scared to death of Silican Valley with all their anti-American sentiments expressed in so many ways.

A co-worker interviewed at a large company in Silicon Valley on Thursday and said out of the 100+ people he saw, 97% or more appeared to be from India. Of course we can’t know how many were using H1B visas...

Every time I read one of these stories about Trump scaring the pee out of the Marxist bedwetters, I’m more and more convinced that I need to vote for him.
“The libertarian-minded innovators who just want to get government out of their way...”
Libertarian my butt. If these goosestepping silicon CEOs were any more fascist, they’d be flying Third Reich flags. Oh, excuse me. In Silicon Valley libertarian means cheering all bat-chit crazy libertine practices and embracing every iteration of tyrannical leftism, including working with commie China to kill dissenters.
Many years ago when I graduated with a BS degree in Computer science, I had offers to stay where I was, go to work for Microsoft, or go to work as an army officer.
The Army was to stupid to realize I had already spent 6 years active duty. I knew that Microsoft work weeks were 80 plus hours per week, no overtime. My present company gave me a big raise plus I got overtime in an engineering position.
I may have done much better money wise with Microsoft as they were in the process of writing that mess called Windows, but I had a family, and those kind of hours would have destroyed it.
These software guys want cheap labor and lots of output.

Abolishing the HIB Visa Program is by definition Getting The Government OUT OF THE WAY!!

Tech companies in the Valley have already shifted AT LEAST 50% of their domestic workforce to H-1B, and those granted a green card for squirting a kid while here.
The layoffs of Americans is accelerating while the import of foreign labor, too, accelerates.
It's because they'll work for 1/2 of what a similarly skilled American will.
Think trickle down folks...eventually this affects everyone and every industry.
Someone is only talking to SV Executives.
SV American Engineers would say something completely different.
I suspect they are staying quiet as they don’t want protesters showing up at their homes/work.
It is going to be REALLY interesting to see how SV votes. (excluding San Fransisco)
