You are wrong. This matter came up years ago during the Clinton presidency. Prominent lawyers mentioned that this is a good and bad part of our Constitution; on the one hand “the will of the people” is supreme and avoids having presidents “chosen” for us, as is the case in many so called “Democracies”: On the other hand, in the worse case scenario, we could land up with a President serving the country from jail!
