Donald Trump is planning a Memorial Day weekend visit with one of his favorite constituencies: bikers.
As motorcyclists stream into the nation’s capital for Rolling Thunder, their largest annual gathering, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is planning an appearance on Sunday, campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said.
“I am doing it in honor of the great bikers who have been totally supportive of my campaign and now I want to be supportive of them,” Trump said in a statement to Bloomberg Politics. “I look forward to it!”
The bike rally, called the “First Amendment Demonstration Run,” begins at noon Eastern time on Sunday, starting at the North Pentagon parking lot and circling the National Mall.
At Trump rallies, motorcycle enthusiasts frequently line the entrances to show their support as protesters do the opposite just steps away. A central part of his appeal to them: a shared belief that self-interested politicians are degrading the military, ignoring veterans and running “a sad government,” as a letter about this weekend’s ride published in December by Rolling Thunder organizers said.
“We are fighting wars and seeking freedom for countries whose people hate us and want to destroy our way of live [sic],” the letter said. “Remember the history of WWII, the last war we fought to really win!”
The week before the New York primary, which Trump easily won, dozens of bikers organized a meet-up in upstate New York to support him. In January, he opened his remarks in Myrtle Beach by thanking a dozen or so motorcycle riders who stood outside cheering for him.

Can’t wait to hear what objection/complaint Beck and Levin come up with for this...They’ll probably spot some foreign brand of tires on one of the bikes and ask how that squares with Trump’s buy American theme.

Trump is a genius. This is good for him, but this will generate lots of publicity and coverage for Rolling Thunder as well.

Either he or Biden will have to make an appearance at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns. To get there, he will have to cross the Memorial Bridge, the same route the bikers will ride on Sunday.

D trump is not just going for the usual voters, he is tapping the vast and deep gold mine of people who just did not give a damn, because they were two sides of the same coin, every time.
They can identify with D trump, and this type of exposure further taps that vein.

One of my dearest friends is buried in a Vet’s cemetery about 45 minutes away. This cemetery started having a wreath-laying ceremony for Christmas. I attended the first year they did it & I think riders from the Patriot Guard showed up. Wow - a sight & sound you don’t forget that was only about 10 bikes. A lot are Vietnam Vets & the guys who showed up looked about that age group with a younger one or two. After the ceremony (presenting a wreath for each branch of service), they headed out across the cemetery in smaller groups with wreaths for their buddies. I cried a lot that day - just got overwhelmed with their sacrifice & of those that died. I had made a wreath for my friend’s grave - he loved the outdoors so I always make him one with pine and/or cedar, dried berries from plants in our garden, etc.
The caretaker for that cemetery is a Marine. I found out one day when I was having a tough time graveside - he was mowing nearby & noticed so he moved to a different section and gave me time & space. I flagged him down to thank him as I was leaving. That’s when he told me he was a Marine (no ‘former’ Marines ... always a Marine). He told me he took care of his buddies as best he could when he was still in the service & he finds it a great honor to continue to care for them in their final resting place. He and his wife live just down the road (maybe a mile) and at dusk, they like to walk around the cemetery (a very rural setting) when the deer & rabbits are visiting & the owls are ‘talking’ (I’ve hear the owls myself). The Vet’s cemetery has been a real surprise for me - I find a lot of comfort & peace there and having a guy like that around, still taking care of ‘his buddies’, helps a lot.
OK. If they would let me set up
A big Viewing stand with all their staff and friends on the steps of Post Office. With lots of flags and bunting like they use at the rallies. Serving Hot Dogs and Hamburgers from a YUGE grill to staff, crew and family. With lots of Cold drinks, chips munchies , at the entrance
Patriotic music playing over the sound system. And Trump welcoming all to DC ( as the resident is still busy no doubt playing golf )
Also a water stop giving out Trump Water to the bikers.

So last Verterans day decided to treat a wife at Denny’s where they were giving the veterans a free breakfast in honor of the women who served from home
I was reminded of this when you mentioned the two walked the grounds together So many who will receive little recognition but who by standing with serve also!

He was getting his money from advertising, which depends on ratings. He has lost a lot of audience by not just favoring Cruz, but being crazy about it and alienating people who supported other candidates. His best option right now to keep his income is to find a source of income that doesn't come from his audience. Zuckerberg could be that sugar daddy.
