Former Pentagon official Mark Schneider warned...'The loss of GPS guidance due to [anti-satellite] attack would take out a substantial part of our precision weapons delivery capability and essentially all of our standoff capability.

Our military is losing almost ALL of It's capability due to the machinations of the POS-in-Chief.

We see so much from time to time trolls like this. What do U.S. have anyway? There’s RIM-174 aka standard missile SM-6 or RIM-161 aka standard missile SM-3. SM-3 is ship-based multi stage mach 10.2 was used to terminate a dying satellite.

~~Vote Trump 2016~~

Is Trump prepared to spend the dollars necessary to challenge this threat and are his right wing libertarian supporters willing to go along?

Didn’t the Navy recently restart training navigation with sextant, chronometer and compass?

Hussein can do a lot of unilateral disarming in the time remaining before January.

he can make the order, but he can’t know if it was carried out.

Obama can’t do any thing from here on in and be certain of implementation

I am sure that the first actions in a big War between the USAA and either Russia or China will be the neutralizing of both sides’ satellites.

The debris generated by a satellite war would be self defeating. I think all sides recognize that.

There is no controlling or predicting the path/consequences of a debris field running wild at mach 5. The debris generated from taking out one of ours takes out five of their's. And vice versa.

Some of his previous orders like cancelling the rail gun and cancelling laser development do seem to have been misunderstood or lost in the email.

But Trump said its time to start shooting down these Russian jets buzzing our ships.

Putin ran away when Turkey shot down his jet. We need to punch the bully in the nose too

Moscow would be glass if they ever attempted to start a war with us.

I don’t think the U.S. has very tested anything that operates at those altitudes. U.S. anti-sat tests (and technology) as far as I know all encompass only near earth orbit.

GPS satellites do not maneuver, have no sensors and emit a powerful beacon like signal, so taking them out should not be a difficult technical challenge for any country that can orbit satellites at those altitudes.

Not if the Won has his way. Part of Reagan's strategy was to explicitly target the Soviet leadership and their families. They could not delude themselves that they or any members of their families would survive a nuclear exchange with the United States. We targeted the Moscow area with over 200 highly accurate nuclear weapons.

That particular shot was a one-off. Putatively, special software for the interceptor and fire control system was developed to “safely” deorbit a crippled satellite filled with hydrazine. The time line from the initial development of the software until the shot was about eight weeks, in a crash program. After the launch, all the software and all the technical documentation was scrubbed. The U.S. was restored to the current state in which we did not have a deployed anti-satellite capability, nor any organization charged with developing such a capability. The putative purpose of the shot was to eliminate a dangerous satellite. The real reason was a response to a Chinese antisatillite test, to demonstrate to China that the U.S. would have no problem whatsoever developing and deploying antisatellite capability.

One thing is for sure - Obama has shown the American People the value of the Constitution and the reasons that our forefathers set it up the way they did. He also awoke patriotism and showed us the wisdom of the Bible in being able to discern evil. And top of that he showed a perfect example of what a tyrant can do if unchecked and set new standards for the worst president in U.S., maybe world history.

Ground forces... even powerful, combined-arms forces... are powerless in the face of a determined airforce. Similarly Air & Naval forces are trumped by space dominance. Our satellite constellation underpins everything. The first shot in the next war will be fired in space and we will be disadvantaged the moment that happens.
