The United States did not want any war in the Pacific. The Japanese were the ones who pushed the issue.
All of Obama’s rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. He says a lot of words that mean nothing but sound good to the listeners.
The United States did respond to Japan’s aggression. The United States took a calculated step to shorten the war with the least number of fatalities. It did not work with Hiroshima. It did work with Nagasaki. That is because the Japanese thought we only had one. When the second went off, they realized that they had to quit and they did.
Thank God for Harry Truman. Can you imagine what would have happened if Barack Obama had been President?

We don’t want more tyranny or slavery, either. It seems like that is always the choice. When things get too tyrannical we have to fight.
That's Trump's position — only he correctly wants to prevent it by building UP our military strength to intimidate enemies, not by destroying it to appease them a là Obama.
That’s a big problem with being a whiny “morality nanny”. It can only be done from a position of superior personal morality. It doesn’t work when a pig in their mud wallow sneers at others for being muddy.
While Americans see ethics as obeying the laws of men; morality is obeying the laws of God. Since socialists are inherently atheistic, they have nothing but contempt for both God and morality. Thus, their preaching of morality is much like that of Jeremiah Wright, a preacher of hate, hiding behind a pretend religion.
