“Bite me is waiting in the wings and will be harder to defeat than Hilda”

I question this - yes, Biden if he’d started off as a candidate like everyone else when everyone else did, could be more formidable.

But desperately jumping in at the last minute when he hasn’t earned it - I think a lot of peope will be turned off to how the Dem Party is playing games with the electorate.

Don’t like the primary results? Well, we’ll just yank our candidate and impose one of our choice - it’ll leave a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths about how elections are just being treated as a nuisance by elites. Most of Bernie’s voters will all tell them to all hang.

I hope you are right about Biden’s chances.

However his nomination will not be a sudden event.
Even with an indictment hanging on her head, Hillary will stay in the race at the democrat convention, saying she has done nothing wrong and she will soon be vindicated blah blah. Then it will become a contested convention because many super delegates will abandon Hillary. Then there will be several votes to pick a nominee, and may be on the 3rd or 4th or 5th ballot, Biden will be nominated. So it will not look like a pre-planned move by the power that be. Biden will take on the role of the great uniter, and will promise Bernie voters that he feels their pain and promise to address their grievances blah blah blah.
