It’s a terrifying moment for Democrats: Hillary Clinton’s double-digit lead in national polls has evaporated and panic is beginning to set in. Polls now show Donald Trump ahead of Clinton, or at worst only a few points behind. During the insanity of the Republican primary, it was easy for them to believe that Trump could never be president—that in a general election, mainstream voters would regard him as an absurdity. But Clinton remains a shaky candidate with historically high negatives, an email scandal that keeps getting worse and a stubborn primary opponent whose supporters may yet become a midsummer nightmare in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the Republicans, seemingly in all-out civil war just weeks ago, have quickly fallen in line. Democrats are resigning themselves to a tough, ugly, painful and expensive street fight.

The numbers offer some reassurance for Democrats—but also some bad news.

The reassurance is that the recent polls probably don’t mean much. Trump’s current surge is likely driven by Republican voters coalescing around their nominee, and Clinton will almost certainly get a similar bump when Bernie Sanders lets go and Democratic voters return to the fold. Most pundits believe 2016 is still Clinton’s race to lose.

Here’s the bad news: There is now a clear path for her to lose it.

If you drill down enough, it’s clear there are at least four paths to a loss, and any one of them poses a real risk for a candidate likely to follow her usual careful, calculating playbook. The cold math of a potential Clinton defeat is not to be found in national polls, but in the Electoral College—and within each state’s unique demographics and culture. Trump won’t dramatically remake the political map, but he doesn’t need to. ...

Maybe Trump was bombastic and played the role of reality show character early on. But the more I see him and the more I hear from him, he's the ONLY serious candidate remaining. The rest are cartoons.

There is a big difference between the PUMAs of 2008 and the Sanders tweens. Pumas were middle age white women, longtime Dems, who eventually got in line.

There is a reason that young people are more sought after by advertisers -- they are more likely to change their mind, (switch to your product). If the Dem party alienates these Berniebros by cheating for Hillary, they have no loyalty to that party and may very well stay home or vote Trump.

The biggest mistake those of us on the right can make is to get complacent. Instead of taking it as a given that Hillary will be indicted and drop out of the race, we should assume she won’t be, and will become the nominee. Instead of assuming her health will become an issue, we need to assume that scenario will not happen. Instead of arbitrarily dismissing polls we don’t like ass “biased”, we need to treat them as accurate and react accordingly. We need to approach this election on the assumption that we will have to fight for every single vote right up until the last polling place closes. It’s much better to fight hard and win easily then to take things for granted and find out in November we made a fatal miscalculation.

Clinton should be very nervous when stuff like this comes out of Politico and especially with what came out of the Washington Post this morning. BRUTAL.

I’m not worried with Clinton being the nominee. I’m worried about other scenarios.

- What if Clinton brings Warren onto the ticket? She can bring aboard Bernie supporters, being the moonbat that she is.

- What if Clinton is dropped and Bernie gets it? Bernie does much better against Trump than Clinton does.

- What if they are both dropped and it’s a Biden/Warren ticket? Biden is a joke but again, Warren is an unknown and a certified socialist douche like Sanders.

It’s going to be interesting.

Did you read the news that Wall Street is bailing on Hillary? Obama recently had to go beg money for Hillary from the big boys. No Money. No campaignee. It’s that simple. The only prize for her now is a pardon.

You are correct in that she won’t be indicted and that Bernie doesn’t have a chance in the general. Bernie will continue to sow the seeds of her demise. The very latest polling shows that Sanders is almost tied with Hillary in Kalifornia. The debate with Trump should help him close the gap. It wasn’t too long ago that Hillary was way ahead of Sanders in the state.

She’s totally screwed if she can’t trounce Sanders in Kalifornia.

Illegals vote legally there in state and local matters but the ballots they receive are the same as those going to citizens to vote in national elections and the registrars tell them to go ahead and vote the whole ballot- who will know? California polls will also allow them to vote as often as they want.
