Just a few election cycles ago, would anyone have ever dreamed that someone would run for president and that one of the main campaign promises would be to destroy the nation?

"--- main campaign promises would be to destroy the nation?"

Gosh, is not the concept of nation and sovereignty so 20th century? One world, one economy. all equal in their service to the elites! (/sarc)

It's a new world order, doncha know? Global citizens, one government and one controlling authority to tell us how to live our lives, down to the smallest detail. No more of those annoying and restrictive borders. Let them all in! It seems that most of our 'leaders' dearly desire it. Trump is against it, and that's why he's so dangerous. I pray for his health and safety.

A few cycles ago? Sure. I would not have been surprised if Al Gore had promised to destroy America, in fact, didn’t he?
